Stone Cold Steve Austin has been one of the most popular wrestlers of all time. Austin has said that he always wanted to be a professional wrestler and was trained initially by Chris Adams. Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled at promotion United States Wrestling Association (USWA) before making his WCW debut in 1991. He wrestled at the WCW from 1991 to 1992, during which he formed an alliance with Brian Pillman and was also a part of Colonel Robert Parker’s Stud Stable.
After leaving WCW, Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled for a year at ECW and then made his WWF debut in 1995. Austin debuted in WWF with the Ringmaster gimmick and participated in the Royal Rumble 1995; he was eliminated by Rikishi at the event. Soon after the Rumble Stone Cold Steve Austin realized that the Ringmaster gimmick was weak, dull and looked uninteresting from the audiences’ point of view. He got rid of the Ringmaster persona and created Stone Cold instead, which would later lead to the creation of one of the greatest characters in WWE history.

Recently, Stone Cold Steve Austin spoke with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda and discussed how he became Stone Cold and why his “Stone Cold” persona is superior to all of his prior personas. He said that his physical constraints caused him to transform into Stone Cold, a reference to his hair fall issue. Steve Austin stated that he turned his constraints into strengths by developing his attitude, demeanor, and showbiz side. Steve Austin stated that he, along with others, may have helped bring in the Attitude Era. He finished by claiming that, while his stunning Steve persona was athletic, “Stone Cold” Character’s expertise and mean streak easily defeated Stunning Steve.
Stone Cold Character is a foul-mouthed, middle finger showing, short tempered man. He drinks beer drinker and doesn’t care what anyone says, he speaks of his mind without caring who he angers. Stone Cold Steve Austin was inspired to use the name “Stone Cold” by his first wife Jeanie, who told him to drink his coffee before it went “Stone Cold”. He has also said that Serial Killer Richard Kuklinski was also the inspiration behind his character.
In the same interview, Stone Cold Steve Austin talked about his use of the Middle Finger. Steve Austin claims that he began showing the middle finger at the perfect time, referring to the beginning of the Attitude Era. Austin stated that Vince McMahon first wanted him to do something else because it was an adult thing, and that the crowd began duplicating the signatures exactly as they did with Diamond Dallas Page’s Diamond.
Steve Austin then stated that Vince asked him if he could perform another signal, to which Austin answered that he could not. Stone Cold Steve Austin stated that he continued to use his “middle finger” gesture, and the WWF continued to rise in the ratings, leaving WCW in the dust.
“The timing was right when I did it, and they asked me not to do it but I said, ‘No, I’m going to do it anyway, and they wanted me to come up with a whole different hand signal, Vince did specifically ’cause Diamond Dallas Page was doing the diamond, right? And everybody would go like that (raises hands in a diamond shape) with it.”
“He goes, ‘Can you come up with a different signal that everybody else can do?’ I looked him dead in the eyes and I said, ‘No.’ I kept flying the middle fingers, and we kept climbing up and we started whipping their ass in the ratings and we had a hell of a career and one thing led to another.”
Stone Cold Steve Austin faced Kevin Owens on Day 1 of WrestleMania 38, He returned to action after 19-year absence and successfully defeated Owens in a No Holds Barred match. Austin also appeared on day 2 after the match between Theory (Accompanied by Vince McMahon) and Pat McAfee. He stunned all three of them after the match.
