BREAKING: Huge update over WWE’s move to TV-14; future plans for Summerslam possibly revealed

WWE SummerSlam is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Termed as the “biggest party of summer”, the premium event has been around for more than 30 years now as this year marks the 35th anniversary of the event. The PPV will be held at Nissan Stadium, Nashville, Tennessee on July 30th, 2022. This is the first time that the event is not being held in August. The fans around the world can live-stream the PPV on the Peacock Network in the United States and on the WWE Network for the rest of the world.

While the match card is ready and fans can expect a great show ahead, there has been a little uncertainty around the parental rating of the show. As it was informed last week that WWE RAW would be moving to a TV-14 format from July 18th, which was later pulled down. It seems that the company is still not clear whether to go ahead with the move or not.

WWE Summerslam will take place at Nissan Stadium on 30 July.

As per the reports, WWE SummerSlam was listed as a TV-14 event on Wednesday Afternoon, before being changed back to a PG rating in the evening. While the fans would have to wait for the transition for Monday Night Raw, it is possible that fans might see an edgier product for the PPV next Saturday. The initial rating of the event as TV-14 confirms that a transition is on the cards but it seems like the company doesn’t want to rush it.

Various superstars and wrestling observers have also reacted to the transition as they expect the company to produce better storylines and compelling matches as they get the freedom to produce edgier content. The WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff recently reacted to WWE considering bringing back the TV-14 format and said- “Some of [the implications] may be real and tangible and others subtle and possibly not so significant,” Bischoff said on his “Strictly Business” podcast.

“I think it’s going to create a lot of anticipation, right? I think there’s going to be a lot of people who maybe have tuned out over the years because the product has gotten soft since 2008, meaning it needs to be palatable for children to keep the advertisers and the network happy.”

It was also reported that people from within the company are still unhappy with the match card, but nevertheless “the biggest party of summer” has some great showdowns waiting for the fans. The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will defend his title against The Beast in a Last Man Standing Match, whereas The Usos would face The Street Profits to defend their Undisputed Tag Titles with Jeff Jarrett being the special guest referee for the match.

Other matches include Riddle taking on Seth Rollins and Bianca Belair defending her title against her rival Becky Lynch. With a packed card, if the rating indeed turns TV-14 it would not be wrong to say that people can expect some over-the-top action and even blood being shown in the matches.
