Former talent relations officer John Laurinaitis doesn’t have a nice reputation among many superstars. Not only superstars, but former SmackDown general manager Teddy Long didn’t have anything nice to say about his former on-screen rival. He expressed his harsh opinions about his time in WWE and Laurinaitis’ behavior towards him in a podcast.
Teddy Long spoke with Bill Apter and Mac Davis on the Wrestling Time Machine podcast about Ronda Rousey‘s recent comments on WWE. Long stated that everything The Baddest Woman on the Planet said was true. Rousey had opened up about so many things in her new book ‘Our Fight’, from backstage politics to not liking her time in WWE, leading to her departure.
The former SmackDown GM further talked about his extreme hatred for Laurinaitis and didn’t hold back. He said that the 61-year-old was one of the worst people he had ever met because he judged him because of his skin color, and not because of his job. Long felt that talking to his brother, Joe Laurinaitis, wouldn’t have made any sense either because of their racist beliefs.
Like I said, I don't hold back my tongue back on Laurinaitis, one of the worst pieces of sh*t on this planet. They can do whatever they wanna do. You sue me all you want to, then you're gonna get holla, holla, So, that's all I can tell you, man. Like I said, I'm not gonna bring them through with this, but here's a man that's gonna stop me from making a living because of the color of my skin, not because I was not doing my job.Teddy Long via Wrestling Time Machine
Rousey made headlines after her shocking revelations about her time in WWE, mainly regarding Vince McMahon and Laurinaitis. She also called him a ‘Piece of sh*t’ in her book and announced that she would never return to WWE. Her brutal remarks toward Vince and WWE have certainly made many fans think about the company’s dark secrets.
Teddy Long would have liked to see Sting’s final match in AEW
The Icon Sting had the last match of his career against The Young Bucks on the March 3 episode of AEW Revolution. Many fans gave him an emotional send-off, and superstars also paid him a tribute on social media. Unfortunately, Teddy Long couldn’t see his last match and wished he would’ve seen it.
Long spoke on the same podcast and regretted that he couldn’t see The Icon’s retirement match. He remembered the old days and said he used to referee a lot of Sting’s matches. The 76-year-old said although everybody was happy with his retirement match, he felt Darby Allin’s dive off a ladder stole all the spotlight he deserved.
I didn't see any of it. I don't watch AEW, so I didn't see any of it. I just want to say congratulations to Sting. I just wish that they would have did the retirement a little bit different, let him went out on his own, he didn't need all that extra fanfare. You know what I mean?Teddy Long via Wrestling Time Machine
He congratulated Sting on his legendary career and expressed that he would miss him in the squared circle. Although he is now retired, Long strongly believes his memories will stick in wrestling fans’ hearts forever.
