“Some people said it was best promo I’ve ever cut” – When The Miz shared his experience of being a WWE creative writer

The Miz

For more than a decade and a half, The Miz has been a staple on WWE television. During that time, he has won numerous titles, including being the first player to complete the Grand Slam twice. He’s fought some of the biggest stars in the sport’s history. He’s even been the main event at WrestleMania. The two-time WWE Champion talked about leading a promo class with Vince McMahon in 2010 during his stint as a Creative Writer for WWE.

The Miz said, “Promo class started with like me and six other people and Vince as the teacher. You’re petrified like ‘oh my God’ because Vince is your teacher. Vince was like, ‘everyone get a promo for next week. You’ll cut it in front of the class and tell about your character.’ I like to go off the cuff. Vince saved me for last. Five people went before me and then I was called. I had this tea and tiny straw. I took a sip and was like, ‘Now you have all talked, it’s time for me to talk.’”

He continued, “Literally, I ripped everyone apart and then I went and got in Vince’s face and started cutting a promo on him. After that class, Vince came up to me and was like, ‘I knew you could finish it off strong and good. You were so into it.’ The next week, I cut a promo, almost the same promo outside the locker room — our head writer for Raw was in the promo class and was jotting stuff down as ammo for the next week and what we had for our characters to maybe drive something for the show — Brian was like, ‘You’re going to cut the same promo on TV next week. It was the one where I’m standing outside the locker room and I cut a promo heading into the arena. Some people said it was best promo I’ve ever cut.“

The Miz: One of the most underrated WWE stars

The Miz is one of the leading faces in WWE and certainly at this point in his career he is a locker room leader and a money maker for the entertainment company.

When it comes to the WWE, The Miz has a first-ballot Hall of Fame career. Nonetheless, it’s difficult not to believe that The Miz is undervalued and that he is possibly the most underappreciated wrestler in the history of the sport.

While he would go on to build a reputation for himself as a wrestler, The Miz was already well-known before ever stepping foot in a ring, courtesy of his appearance on MTV’s reality show The Real World.

He would then go on to appear on WWE’s Tough Enough, where he is without a doubt the biggest success that program has ever generated, despite not winning it.

After appearances in WWE’s developmental territories including Deep South Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling, he made his main roster debut as the host of SmackDown in 2006.
