Rob Gronkowski is regarded as one of the greatest American Football Tight ends of all-time. After having a decorated NFL career that spanned for 11 seasons, Gronk finally retired on June 21, 2022. He played for the New England Patriots for the better part of his NFL journey. However, he attracted an uncalled event when he was about to have a run with WWE.

As known, the 33-year old first announced his retirement in 2019, later rejoining the league in 2020. It was upon the quest of his former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, which forced Gronk to come back. In April 2020, he got traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he joined California Cool, who himself inked a deal with Bucks in March. Few weeks prior to this, Rob hosted WrestleMania 36, and henceforth was in negotiations with WWE about their future.

Rob’s great friend and former WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley recently shed some light to that phase. He indeed confirmed that the 4-time Super Bowl Champion was primed for a bright WWE career. In fact, Rawley and Gronk were scheduled to have a Tag-Team match at SummerSlam in Boston that year. Of course that didn’t happened as Rob Gronkowski received an offer from Tom Brady to join Buccaneers.

On an episode of Ten Count, Mojo Rawley said, “The plan was to do a tag team match with me and him at SummerSlam because it was in Boston that year.” Further, Rawley iterated that Gronk got an offer which he couldn’t reject and was a “no-brainer” thing to take that deal. “Rob had, I believe, $10 million or more on the table to go back for one season left on his contract, and it was a no-brainer.”

At first, Gronkowski attended WrestleMania 33 in 2017. During the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, he put his hands over Jinder Mahal, after the latter poured some drink over the NFL star. As a result, Mojo Rawley won that match. After that, on SmackDown post-Mania, Rob avenged that drink spot with Mahal by returning the favor to him.

In April 2020, he was announced as the host of WrestleMania. However, due to unprecedented times owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, that Grandest Spectacle was forced to held behind closed doors. But, Rob did his best to entertain the viewers at home.

He won the 24/7 title during second night of Mania. In an interesting reveal afterwards, Gronk initially resisted on performing a dive off the elevated platform at WrestleMania. However, Vince McMahon himself assisted Gronkowski by performing the same maneuver on the crash pad. Following this, the Football Tight end succeeded in his tracks.
