Night 1 of WrestleMania 39 featured some of the best WWE matches ever seen. And maybe one of the best, if not the best, was the Men’s Showcase Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Match.
This match featured four of the best tag teams on RAW– The Alpha Academy(Otis & Chad Gable), The Viking Raiders(Erik and Ivar), The Street Profits(Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins), and Braun Strowman & Ricochet. These four teams gave it their all in a match that would propel their standings in the tag division.
This Showcase match saw some great action and, as fans described it, “wrestling in its purest form”. With that said, let’s look at the top 5 jaw-dropping moments from last night’s Men’s Showcase match:
5. Ricochet hits the Shooting Star on Angelo Dawkins
It’s safe to say that Ricochet was the highlight of the match. He once again showed the WWE Universe why he’s called “The One and Only” as he impressed the audience throughout the match with his high-flying moves. One of them was when he took out Erik and Angelo Dawkins with the shooting star from the top rope.
With a single move, he took down two of his opponents. With the hyped-up commentary from Titus O’Neil, this moment became all the more special. It goes to show that Ricochet truly is one of WWE’s most underrated and underutilized superstars.
4. Ricochet takes everyone down from the top turnbuckle
The One and Only makes the list again. This time, he took down three teams at once from the top turnbuckle. The Alpha Academy and The Viking Raiders hoisted Montez Ford, looking to hit the double suplex. Ricochet turned it around by jumping from the top turnbuckle and taking everyone down in a single move. This was a delight to watch. Ricochet’s athleticism was on full display in this match.
3. Chad Gable hits Braun Strowman with a German Suplex
Chad Gable is pretty well known for his unbelievable strength and athleticism, despite his size. In one of the highlights of the match, Gable rolled over The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman, and then hit him with a German Suplex. This is a pretty amazing feat, considering Strowman is a 385-pound monster and usually doesn’t get picked up by wrestlers half his size. Gable once again impressed the WWE Universe and showed why he is one of the best wrestlers today.
2. Braun Strowman goes airborne
The Monster Among Men isn’t usually known for his high-flying moves. Strowman is a pretty big man, weighing in at 385 pounds. This is why his splash from the top turnbuckle was even more shocking and terrifying. Braun Strowman planted a well-executed splash on Ivar of The Viking Raiders. Strowman even got close to winning, but the three-count was broken by everyone.
1. The Street Profits wins the Showcase
Although unexpected, it definitely wasn’t surprising. When Ricochet attempted a shooting star splash, Dawkins got his knees up. Ford then rolled up The One and Only for the victory. From beginning to end, this match was a banger. It showcased the amount of talent that lies within the Tag Team Division of WWE.
