Recently, Lacey Evans opened up about her WWE departure. After being an active performer for the promotion since 2019, the 33-year-old was granted her release last year in August. Evans remained in the cosmos of controversy after she claimed not to have WWE as her passion. She caught flak for her remarks; however, yet another ex-WWE star, Top Dolla, has arrived in Lacey’s defense.

Speaking on WrestleBinge, the real-life AJ Francis admitted that Lacey Evans does get a lot of loathing on the internet. However, speaking from personal experience, Dolla termed Evans one of the nicest people he came across during his time in WWE. Moreover, the former Hit Row member said that the Sassy Southern Belle worked as hard as anyone despite not adoring her stay in the company.

As things stand, Lacey Evans has not agreed to step back into the squared circle. Currently, she owns the Sunny Summers Cafe in South Carolina. Nestled in the Beaufort Plaza Shopping Center, the cafe aims to aid individuals plagued with addiction and their mental well-being. Apart from this, the former US Marine has also started an OnlyFans account.

She gets a lot of flak online. But in person, she was genuinely one of the nicest people that I had to deal with during my time in WWE.

She’s one of the few names who’ve openly declared that she doesn’t miss being in WWE at all. Moreover, Lacey once admitted to getting herself into a backstage scuffle due to her outspoken nature. She predominantly enjoyed success under Vince McMahon‘s regime, and her stock nosedived once Triple H took over as the creative spearhead.

Did WWE ever think of pushing Lacey Evans to the top?

Despite coming ever-so-close to becoming Women’s Champion in WWE on numerous occasions, Lacey Evans never won the title. However, she was penciled in for a major crowning moment at WrestleMania 37, had it not been for her pregnancy.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, she revealed that WWE pitted her into a heated storyline with Charlotte Flair, as they had long-term plans for her. Having said that, Charlotte’s dad, Ric Flair, sided with Evans as part of their polarizing storyline.

The endgame would’ve resulted in Evans becoming the Raw Women’s Champion at WrestleMania in 2021. However, everything was scrapped when she discovered her pregnancy. But with Lacey’s head not there, she would consider not getting her WrestleMania moment as a blessing in disguise.
