The Royal Rumble 2024 PLE was quite a successful start to the year for WWE. The show lived up to its hype, and as expected, the company broke records. However, a ‘dark cloud’ hung over the buildup when a sexual harassment lawsuit was filed against Vince McMahon. As such, WWE CCO, Triple H, was asked about the same during the post-event press conference.

The wrestling legend seemingly shot down the questions and instead emphasized focusing on the “positives” this week. Therefore, Triple H once again mentioned the $5 billion Netflix deal and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson‘s addition to the TKO Board of Directors, highlighting the amazing week WWE had. Furthermore, Hunter claimed that he had not yet read the lawsuit, which included the alleged heinous acts committed by his father-in-law.

I'm gonna do exactly what you would expect me to do here. We just had an amazing week. Just got a 10-year $5 billion Netflix deal. Rock joining our Board. We just sold out the Royal Rumble, put 48,000 people in Tropicana Field. I choose to focus on the positive, and yes there's a negative, but I wanna focus on that and just keep it to that.
Triple H on the allegations against Vince McMahon

While fans understood him not addressing the allegations directly due to an ongoing lawsuit, many were critical of the way Triple H responded. The King of Kings stated that he didn’t intend on speaking on the negative side of things. Moreover, he wanted to point out all the positives for WWE this week. Some did not believe that the 54-year-old hadn’t yet read the lawsuit. Needless to say, there were a lot of polarizing views online regarding his statement.

On the other hand, Cody Rhodes was willing to address the ‘dark cloud’ and gave a well-crafted answer. Despite the popularity of the Royal Rumble, Vince’s situation had taken over headlines due to the severity of the accusations. Later, the Executive Chairman resigned from all of his positions after sponsors supposedly started to pull out of deals.

Triple H comments on “Forbidden Door” appearance at Royal Rumble

The Women’s Royal Rumble match started off strong. Along with Naomi‘s return to WWE, Jordynne Grace, the current TNA Knockouts World Champion, surprised everyone by entering at #5. As a result, Triple H expressed his opinion on the shocking appearance, calling the term “Forbidden Door” silly.

According to Hunter, it is good for WWE to bring in talent from other promotions. However, he didn’t want to use the specific term to define the relationships between companies. Interestingly, some fans claimed that he took a subtle shot at AEW’s Tony Khan.

It’s exciting to just being able to branch out and I’m not gonna use a cliched term of what door people go through, because it’s stupid and silly.

Previously, Mickie James showed up similarly at the Royal Rumble event in 2022 with her Knockouts Title. Whether or not this leads to a future partnership between the two promotions is yet to be confirmed. However, the possibility of it can lead to plenty of exciting scenarios for the WWE Universe.
