Trish Straus became the first woman recipient to recieve the Lou Thesz Award.
Trish Stratus is regarded as one of the most talented and popular divas in the wrestling world. The WWE Hall of Famer has achieved greatness in its truest sense as she is counted as one of the greatest women’s performers to ever step in the ring. Stratus has won the women’s Championship over 7 times in her career and has been a pioneer in shaping women’s wrestling. The diva recently added another feather to her cap when she received the Lou Thesz Award at The National Wrestling Hall of Fame. It was surely a huge moment for her as she became the only woman to win this award since its inception in 2007.
With this, she became the second woman to be included in the National Hall of Fame, with Beth Phoenix being the first. Trish earlier said that she was feeling extremely honored and proud to share the list with legends. Trish started her speech by thanking the jury for finally recognizing the talent of women in the pro wrestling industry. She then went on to say that still women remain under-represented and underpaid in the industry, but then said that it can be a discussion for some other day.

Trish Stratus praises the likes of Liv Morgan, Britt Baker, Bianca Belair and many more
The Hall of Famer would then go on to praise current generation women superstars and said –“they exemplify what is right in this industry. It is with their steadfast determination while transcending stereotypes”. Trish started off with Liv Morgan, also reminding everyone that she is the current Smackdown Women’s Champion. The seven-time champion would then go on to add the names of current generation divas like- Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Bayley, Charlotte Flair, and even mention mentioned AEW’s star diva Britt Baker.
She said all of them and many more are inspiring women around the world just like the divas in their Golden Period such as Lita, Molly Holly, Jazz, and Victoria did in their times. Trish retired from in-ring competition in 2006 but made her return at the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2018 and even faced Charlotte Flair at Summerslam in 2019, proving that she has still got the metal. In 2021, WWE even named her the greatest female superstar of all time as well.
