“It’s kind of SOFT, you know?” When The Undertaker got in trouble for calling the current WWE product “soft”

Undertaker is undoubtedly the biggest superstar in WWE history. There is hardly any other character in the company that has become more iconic than that of Taker. Though Taker has stayed away from the media in general and interacts very rarely as well. In his earlier interviews Taker would still carry his persona and character even outside the ring.

But after his retirement The Deadman started appearing in the interviews in his original persona. Though one of his interviews with Joe Rogan became controversial where he allegedly called the current WWE product ‘soft’. In 2021 while appearing at Joe Rogan Experience Taker was asked if he enjoys the current product as a fan to which Taker replied- “I try. It’s tough right now for me because the product has changed so much. It’s kind of soft, you know?”

The Undertaker was inducted into the Hall of Fame 2022 by Vince McMahon himself.

Taker further said that he knows the statement would probably piss a lot of people, but the truth needs to be told. He also said that the company is now trying to make the product reach more and more people and there are several characters played by each roster member. Taker went on to say that the current generation superstars lack some substance.

Undertaker’s comments received a huge backlash from fans and superstars within the company as well. Taker would later clarify his stance on what he actually meant when he called the product “soft”. Taker said- “I wasn’t bashing our talent; our talent is extraordinary. What they’re physically able to do, I couldn’t imagine doing that back in the day.”

Shedding a light on his previous statement Taker said he didn’t mean to disrespect any current generation superstar but he just wanted to compare the current product with his time. He also said that he is extremely proud to be a part of the evolution of the business. Taker gave an example that when Triple H met him first time he was shocked as he saw a black tape on Taker’s boots.

Taker said that during that period if your gear was torn then you either had to fix it yourself or wear it torn, he then said he is extremely proud of the position that the company has reached today. In the later part of the interview Taker would thank all the wrestling fans for believing in the character of Undertaker. He said that he never took the love of fans for granted. He also said that tickets and WWE PPVs are expensive and if people invested in The Undertaker as a source of their entertainment he could do nothing but be humble and proud of it.
