After hammering a barrage of thumping strikes on John Cena‘s throat at Crown Jewel, Solo Sikoa shattered the WWE legend’s dream to get back to winning ways. Despite losing, Cena received a well-deserved standing ovation from a packed house in Riyadh. Shortly after his match, The Cenation Leader posted a cryptic post inspired by David Beckham’s last game of his career.
Though Cena did not go any further, the 16-time World Champion indicated that his time too might be up. However, there’s an update on John Cena potentially hanging around for this year’s Survivor Series. BWE reported that, though Cena was discussed for the event in Chicago, his WWE future is currently on hold. As of now, he’s not locked in for the last premium live event of 2023.
If his match against Solo indeed turns out to be the last of his career, he will have no regrets about hanging up his boots for good. Cena came back to WWE owing to his zeal to work with the younger talent. Now that he has accomplished the mission, John will return to Hollywood if the SAG-AFTRA strike ends. It doesn’t seem real, but The Franchise Player’s on-paper commitment to WWE has come to an end.
Throughout his latest sojourn, he had fun with the likes of LA Knight, Grayson Waller, and the good folks of The Bloodline. The fans have no option but to wait for the next step from the Peacemaker star. His constant appearances contributed to a massive upsurge in SmackDown’s attendance for October. The blue brand boasted an impressive streak of completely selling out its show for 10 straight weeks.
John Cena’s WWE fate depends on the latest SAG-AFTRA negotiations
On Saturday, the SAG-AFTRA sat down with the major streamers and studios in Hollywood. The latter presented what could be the last offer to accept for the actors’ union. Had the deal struck, it might end the tantalizing strike soon.
However, if it doesn’t, the negotiations could freeze for the rest of the year. This would be something John Cena is anxiously waiting for. The minutes of the meeting are undisclosed. It seems like Cena’s WWE fate will largely depend on how the meeting fares out.
Recent revelations are that John obtained written consent from SAG-AFTRA to make his WWE return. If this was it from the WWE icon, the entire wrestling fraternity should be grateful for the run he gave.
