REPORT : The future of WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship is still uncertain in the company
Women's Tag Team Championship
The Women’s Tag Team Championship have already created a lot of mess in WWE for the past few months. From the championship holders Sasha Banks and Naomi waking out off Raw on MAY 16th to reportedly getting released as of now, the talks surrounding it’s immediate future are also not very inspiring.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select exclusively reported that the talents they’ve reached out in the company were completely unaware of anything related to the future of these women’s Tag Team championships. As been previously revealed that a Tournament in to determine the new Women’s Tag Team Champions was reportedly on the cards but that seem to be way off the table right now. Here’s what the report had to say,
“Talent that we’ve spoken to said that they’ve received no word of when or if the tag team title tournament will actually happen. Even beyond that, they claim that they’ve heard no discussion regarding the tag team titles whatsoever since that announcement.”
The time is definitely running out for WWE to actually rebuild and provide some much needed value to these titles before it completely gets tarnished and forgotten by the WWE Universe. The latest holders of these titles Banks and Naomi won the gold back at Wrestlemania this year in a Fatal-4-way match. Growing up on the continuous horrible booking of these championships, both of them decided to put the belts on John Laurinaitis’ table and retrieve out off the Raw tapings back in May.
WWE don’t have much teams left in the women’s division to compete for the Women’s Tag Team Championship
One of the main woes of conducting a tournament to determine new Tag Champs is that WWE don’t have many tag teams left on their main roster as only Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H are there in addition to some randomly placed duos.
They had previously broken up Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan months ago which were prospering as a fan loving duo. Reports suggest that WWE even considered bringing in teams from NXT inorder to fill in those gaps to conduct a tournament but those talks seems to have been fizzled for now.
