Between the late 80s and the early 90s, there were two mega babyfaces, Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior, who ruled over the WWE Universe. WWE catapulted Warrior into major storylines quickly after his debut in 1987. Vince McMahon likely saw him as the next face to carry forward the company. However, there was an incident when the WWE legend upset one of his young fans. As a result, McMahon forced him to film an apology video for it.
Recently, a user took to X and shared a behind-the-scenes video of The Ultimate Warrior filming an apology video for a young fan and his father. The video is a snippet from A&E’s exclusive wrestling documentary series focused on the late Warrior. The late wrestler had frustration at Vince McMahon for making him shoot an apology video for a fan.

The late WWE Hall of Famer was fumbling his lines repeatedly out of frustration, forcing McMahon to take multiple shots. The former was reluctant to film the apology video. Thus, the 78-year-old can be seen readying the Ultimate Warrior by reminding him that it was just a “work.”
"You don't have to say anything, I understand that. That's all it is. A work, we are working here."Vince McMahon to the Ultimate Warrior
The Ultimate Warrior yelled at the young fan in the airport when the latter approached him for an autograph. It turns out that the young kid’s father was a higher-up employee at WWE’s syndicated network at that time. The father informed Vince about Warrior’s insolent actions. To save the company’s reputation, McMahon came up with the idea of filming an apology video.
A brief look into the infamous letter controversy between The Ultimate Warrior and Vince McMahon ahead of SummerSlam 1991
The Ultimate Warrior arrived in the Stamford-based promotion in 1987. Within a year, he triumphed over the Honky Tonk Man to capture the Intercontinental Championship. His popularity skyrocketed to unfathomable levels when Vince McMahon put him in the main event of WrestleMania 6. Shockingly, Warrior defeated Hulk Hogan to reach the pinnacle of success. But what transpired after that changed the WWE legend’s career forever.

Despite his soaring popularity among the masses, The Ultimate Warrior felt he wasn’t getting the same treatment as Hulk Hogan. In the summer of 1991, he sent a letter to Vince McMahon, putting forth a set of demands. He wanted a raise in his merchandise sales cut, a shorter schedule, and over 500,000 dollars in cash. He made these demands by citing that he was as important as Hulk Hogan.
Furthermore, he threatened McMahon to not show up at SummerSlam if the demands weren’t met. The latter reluctantly agreed to the Hall of Famer’s demands. However, he had some other plans in mind. The 78-year-old handed over a suspension letter to the Hall of Famer as soon as he came backstage after his SummerSlam match.
Consequently, Warrior planned to quit WWE, but his contract was up till 1992. Nonetheless, McMahon eventually brought him back after a few years. This time, the Ultimate Warrior failed to spell the same magic on the WWE Universe as his previous stint. The late WWE Hall of Famer’s wrestling career could have been way different had he not sent the letter to McMahon.
