For over ten years, CM Punk has been one of the most talked-about superstars in the industry. It did not matter if he worked for WWE, AEW, or did not work at all. Punk was always in the headlines for his or other people’s comments about the Second City Saint. Now that AEW terminated Punk, fans are looking back at the time when WWE fired him, which happened to be the exact day of his marriage.

While talking on the Stone Cold Podcast with Steve Austin, Austin asked WWE Chairman Vince McMahon if he wanted to talk about CM Punk or not. To this, Vinnie Mac replied that he would like to publicly apologize for what happened. He said that the legal team did not know what talent relations were up to. Therefore, WWE handed his severance papers on the day of his marriage.

Vince McMahon also said that he does not want to do his dirty laundry in public and does not want to blame anyone for anything. Additionally, Vince also said that he wishes that Punk would not say anything that might hurt the reputation of WWE or himself. This is because Vince was hopeful that they might be able to work together sometime in the future.

The interview between Vince McMahon and Stone Cold took place in 2014. Therefore, CM Punk’s walkout from WWE was relatively fresh, and Punk’s popularity had not decreased. Therefore, McMahon thought it would be a good move to apologize to Punk for the co-incidence as used by McMahon. The termination took place on the day of Punk’s marriage to AJ Mendez.

The possibility of CM Punk’s return to WWE

CM Punk was last seen in WWE in January 2014 at the Royal Rumble, when he put on an Iron Man performance in the match. However, he was illegally taken out of the match by Kane. He would not return to a squared circle for the next seven years when he made his debut in AEW. From 2021 until recently, Punk had his ups and downs in the company.

However, now that AEW has officially announced that they have terminated CM Punk, fans are wondering if Punk will go back to WWE. Next January will mark the tenth year since his walkout from the Royal Rumble. Additionally, WWE’s Survivor Series this year is taking place in Chicago, which is Punk’s hometown. Therefore, fans are wondering if the former WWE Champion might show up for the event.

Unfortunately, the chances of that happening are slim to none. This is because Triple H, who is the creative head of WWE, has not shown any interest in working with Punk since his walkout in 2014. Punk has also complained about working with Triple H in the past. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that fans will ever see CM Punk in a WWE ring again.
