To this date, Sable remains one of the most controversial figures in WWE history. During her apex in the company, a lot of opposite-s*x names around there conspired against her. A similar incident was recently shared by then-head writer, Vince Russo. Recalling how over as a personality Sable had become back in 1998. However, that didn’t sit well with some of the top male stars.
As a result, they hated her being more often on television, making as double as headlines than most of them. That led to an anonymous figure putting a bug in Vince McMahon’s ear. As a result, the 77-year-old introduced Sable as the manager of The Oddities to cool her off. Her popularity took a disastrous hit after such a downgrade. Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Russo detailed what exactly used to happen with her.
“What I witnessed was a level of sexism in the wrestling business that I never experienced before in my life. As a writer, bro, I don’t care if you’re male, female, black, white, a chimpanzee; I could care less. If you draw ratings, you’re gonna be on the show. Period. End of story. And Sable was drawing ratings.”
As mentioned by Russo, the Queen of LA Groupies was a huge draw for the company back then. She pulled in unfathomable numbers across cable television. On her back, WWE was able to maximize their revenue and help garner new viewers to their product. To reward her unreal stardom, writers pitched for time television duration featuring Sable. Notably, a top name at that juncture had enough of it and decided to manipulate Vince McMahon.
“What happened was she was getting so over, she was getting a lot of TV time, and the good ol’ boys didn’t like a female taking their television time. And bro, I can tell you as a fact, I’m not gonna say who it is, but literally, a top guy got in Vince’s ear, and the next thing you know, Sable is managing The Parade of Human Oddities.”
Why Sable left WWE back in 1999?

After seeing enough with the company, Sable left WWE in June 1999. Shortly after, she leveled up a $110 million lawsuit against the Stamford-based promotion. In the official filings, Brock Lesnar’s wife accused WWE over s*xual harassment and unsafe working environment.
She did return to WWE in 2003. However, only after she was made to apologize to everyone she disgruntled in the company. The revelation was made by her ex-husband Marc Melo. He also dropped names like ‘Stone Could Steve Austin and The Undertaker being the ones whom she’d apologize before getting back there.
