The WWE Universe just witnessed one of the most amazing Royal Rumbles of all time. Cody Rhodes, entering at number 30, wrote a perfect comeback story for ages to come. Gunther’s Ironman performance, which lasted one hour, eleven minutes, and twenty-five seconds, set a new record for the longest time spent by a WWE superstar in a traditional 30-man Royal Rumble. Aside from who will compete in the main event of WrestleMania, fans are looking forward to Kofi Kingston’s iconic saves at every Rumble.
Even though the rumble was full of wonderful moments, one spot has left fans disappointed. After years of memorable Rumble moments, Kofi had a botch last year and failed his attempt at an awesome save. Unfortunately, his bad luck with botches continued this year as well.
Kofi Kingston entered the Rumble at number 4, full of energy and high-flying moves. The New Day member Xavier Woods entered the ring at number 6 and provided some backup to Kofi. The NXT Tag Team Champions, after taking out everyone in the ring, went on to have some fun by slapping each other’s butts as instruments.
New Day’s good times didn’t last long in the match, as Gunther threw Xavor Woods out of the ring. What followed next broke many hearts. Gunther pushed Kofi Kingston out of the ring, and the latter landed awkwardly on a ringside chair and hit his head on the announce table. What fans expected to be a redemption of Kofi’s iconic save ended up being a scary moment for him. Fans are worried about Kofi Kingston’s well-being and hope nothing is serious.
Kofi Kingston reacts to his botch
The botch disappointed a lot of fans as well as Kofi Kingston. Fans wanted their Mr. Royal Rumble to prove to everyone that last year’s botch was nothing but just bad luck. But Kofi’s failure to do it two years in a row has left a bad taste in the WWE Universe’s mouth. After the Royal Rumble, Kingston took to Twitter to express his disappointment.
Luckily, it appears that botch wasn’t that serious and Kofi Kingston is fine. He is currently the NXT Tag Team Champion, alongside Xavier Woods. The New Day is set to defend their tag titles in a fatal four-way tag team match at NXT Vengeance Day. Fans hope Kofi Kingston’s bad luck ends and he can provide the WWE Universe with another memorable save at the Royal Rumble next year.
