“All-time great match in last 20 years” – WCW President applauds Cody Rhodes for fighting despite torn pec

Cody Rhodes screaming in joy after winning

Cody Rhodes wrestled Seth Rollins in a 24-minute match with an obviously nasty torn-pectoral muscle inside the demonic Hell in a Cell structure. Rollins targeted Rhodes’ pec throughout the bout, attempting to inflict more and more harm to the already damaged area of his body.

Since then, several others have commented on the issue, with SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee calling it “one of the most gutsy performances he’d ever seen,” while 2-times WWE Hall of Famer Booker T still believes Rhodes will be seen on WWE TV while he recovers from his injury.

On the newest episode of the Strictly Business podcast, former WCW President Eric Bischoff became the latest person to commend Cody Rhodes for battling through the injury.

I think as bad as his injury was, the fact that Cody went out and had, I don’t know where that match is going to end up in being the all-time great matches of at least the last 20-years, but it needs to be right up there in my opinion,” Bischoff said. “And for Cody to be able to do what he did, even though he’s going to be out for four to six months, whatever it is, people are already anticipating his comeback. There is so much potential there, it’s frightening.”

Cody Rhodes underwent surgery on Thursday and had a great outcome, according to the WWE. The road to rehabilitation for “The American Nightmare” has begun, with the former AEW star joining CM Punk, Bryan Danielson of Blackpool Combat Club, and Adam Cole of The Elite as top performers now sidelined with injury.

Since “WrestleMania 38,” when Dusty’s son made his victorious comeback to WWE after six years, Rhodes and Rollins had been feuding.

After defeating Rollins three times in a row and attempting to become the first member of the Rhodes family to capture world championship gold, the American Nightmare appeared to be on a collision course with Roman Reigns, the current WWE Undisputed Champion.

Unfortunately, that ambition will have to wait four to six months at the earliest, or nine months if WWE’s estimates are true.
