Why is Ronda Rousey lashing out at WWE and former chairman Vince McMahon? Full controversy explained
It appears like Ronda Rousey had a bone to pick with WWE.

By the time Ronda Rousey bailed out of WWE last year, she had been relegated to merely being a pushover; at least the fans perceived her that way. After putting her longtime comrade Shayna Baszler over, The Baddest Woman on the Planet called it a day. Rousey ducked mainstream coverage following WWE exit only to whip back with a thud.
Reports claim that just as she was about to finish up with WWE, The Rowdy One had grown despicable of Vince McMahon. In her soon-to-be-released memoir, Our Fight, the 37-year-old has delved into a behind-the-scenes mess in the company where she once held the torch. There’s a lot she had to abridge, as her editor set a limit of 9,000 words.
Nonetheless, Rousey’s autobiography, set to release on April 2, is bound to cause a stir.
She has already oozed detestation for former WWE Head of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis, and Bruce Prichard. The former UFC ace, during an interview with LiveSigning, said they can “f**k themselves.”
And if that wasn’t enough, the former Women’s Champion affirmed that she plans to never go back to the Stamford-based promotion. One would imagine why Rousey, once a top female prospect for Vince McMahon and co., is spewing venom against them. There’s a lot to digest, as it takes two to tango.
Ronda Rousey says WWE has a “casting couch” culture
In an excerpt from her autobiography, the former Judoka asserted that there was a casting couch culture in WWE. She continued by saying that top brass officials mentally vandalized female talent by demanding s*xual favors in return for airtime.
Apart from that, Rousey came up piqued while underscoring how women were portrayed on television back in the day. Calling them footnotes, she lamented the highly notorious “Bra & Panties” stuff that was prevalent on WWE programming years ago. Out and out, the Beijing Olympics bronze medalist was quite vituperative in her cadence, voicing how gender discrepancies panned out.
Ronda Rousey compared Saudi Arabia’s ideology to that of Vince McMahon
Unlike some of her colleagues, Ronda Rousey wasn’t a late bloomer in WWE. She came in, perched on the apogee, and burst out as the rowdy woman that she was. As clear as daylight, former WWE chairman Vince McMahon was high on the former UFC Bantamweight Champion.
And why not? All the grind she did while being in UFC paid dividends once she transitioned into a much more physically mitigating realm.
[Pay-per-views are] held in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia, as well as now twice a year in Saudi Arabia, a nation that restricts the rights of women in a way that I’m certain Vince McMahon wishes he could.Ronda Rousey in her upcoming memoir “Our Fight”
However, as mentioned earlier, Rousey had discovered countless scandals McMahon was involved in and seemingly grew apart with the 78-year-old. In her book, she discussed WWE’s foray into the Middle East—Saudi Arabia, to be precise. Rousey compared the nation’s misogynist pull to that of Vinnie Mac.
Praised Triple H, but called Vince McMahon a “Palpatine”
The Arm Collector did give flowers to those who deserved them. In yet another excerpt from her memoir, she lauded WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, for being one of the better people on the business side of things in WWE.
The 37-year-old then mentioned his wife, Stephanie McMahon, who’s the daughter of Vince McMahon, whom she called WWE’s Palpatine. Rousey accused Vince of playing a real-world pro-wrestling monopoly for the better part of four decades. She called it hard to probe into the Alpha and Omega of McMahon’s slimeball gimmick.
Furthermore, The Rowdy One didn’t hold back while mentioning how McMahon’s been engrossed in numerous cases of misconduct. In a nutshell, Rousey’s loathing for McMahon and his fellow henchmen wasn’t an overnight wonder. It spanned over the time she was there with them as a wrestler.
