“Why are they shoving this down our throats”- Wrestling Twitter slams CM Punk for promoting the LGBTQ community in a wrestling promo at AEW Collision

Former AEW Champion CM Punk is arguably one of the most controversial figures in the pro wrestling industry. During his time in WWE, and now in AEW, CM Punk has been the epicenter of multiple issues. As soon as he returned after ten months of hiatus, Punk sparked another debate online after what he did when AEW Collision went off air.
CM Punk teamed up with FTR to take on Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe in the main event of AEW Collision. This was the first-ever episode of AEW’s new show. The show was headlined by a returning CM Punk, who was injured and had been out of action since September 2022. Punk and FTR defeated their opponents in an incredible match in Punk’s hometown of Chicago.
After the show’s broadcasting was done, CM Punk and FTR had a promo in the ring after Punk saw a sign in the audience. The sign read, “Support LGBTQ+ Youth”. The former WWE superstar talked about his own experience of not fitting in with the people around him. He also urged his fans in the audience to not discriminate against such people and try to understand their choices and lives.
Ever since the former WWE superstar cut the promo, wrestling Twitter has been melting down. Some fans are calling out Punk for including such matters in wrestling and spoiling the product for kids. On the other hand, some fans are praising Punk and AEW for being inclusive of people from all sexual orientations and other walks of life.

Fans have mixed reactions to CM Punk’s promo
Multiple fans are blaming Punk for pushing the matter of sexuality down their throats. The fans are asking the wrestler to just wrestle and entertain them. They believe that it was wrestling and not CNN. This is not the first time that AEW superstars have supported the LGBTQ+ community on their shows. Kenny Omega has also supported a fan sign similar to Punk and talked about his experience.
The topic of sexuality in wrestling has been a very controversial matter for fans. They are divided into sides that support homosexuality and other issues, while some strictly oppose the issues and are conservative in that aspect. Former WWE superstars have also given their opinions about the matter, both for and against the issues.
