WWE announces Cody Rhodes’ first ever NXT appearance for next week going head-to-head with Edge’s AEW Dynamite debut

For the first time in over a year, WWE NXT will broadcast at the same time as AEW Dynamite. As the fans know, the latter will see the first appearance of Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland following his emphatic debut at WrestleDream. Now, to counter the eyeballs, NXT is stacking up its card too. As announced on X, Cody Rhodes will make his first-ever NXT appearance next week.

Not only that, he has a major announcement to make. Shawn Michaels decided to step up his game, and he just made sure that the Tuesday Night War stayed in his court. If Cody Rhodes wasn’t enough, guess what? WWE has announced that both Paul Heyman and John Cena will be there next week on NXT.

Cena’s upcoming NXT appearance will be his first in over a decade, as he supports Carmelo Hayes against Bron Breakker, who will have Paul Heyman in his corner. Additionally, Asuka vs. Roxanne Perez has been added to the card. Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes may have surprises in store.

That show would forever remain close to his heart, as NXT has honored the legacy of Dusty Rhodes on numerous occasions. Having said that, Cody might announce the return of the much-awaited Dusty Rhodes classic tag team tournament. Over the years, the tourney has seen the ascension of multiple tag teams. It’s kind of a breakout opportunity for any duo that’s willing to make it big.

Cody Rhodes has a massive title match at WWE Fastlane

Before he gets to NXT, Cody Rhodes has a tall task ahead of him this Saturday. As confirmed during this week’s Raw, he will join forces with Jey Uso to battle the menacing duo of Finn Balor and Damian Priest for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships at Fastlane.

If Jey and Cody could pull this off and dethrone The Judgment Day, it would be huge. However, there’s a man who could be lurking to pounce upon The American Nightmare. And just as everyone would’ve guessed, it’s Drew McIntyre. On Raw, during his promo, McIntyre started with Rhodes’ pet line, which said, “What do you guys wanna talk about?”

Drew McIntyre previously warned Cody Rhodes that if Jey Uso’s move to Raw didn’t work out for him, McIntyre would take care of Rhodes, as he was the one who brought him to the brand. Speculation is rife that McIntyre might cost Rhodes the match at WWE Fastlane this weekend.
