The draft is always an exciting time of the year, especially when superstars used to be brand-specific. There are many exciting moments the WWE Drafts have given to fans, like John Cena getting drafted twice on the same night. The Universal Championship and the big golden belt only came to be because of the draft.
Recently, with superstars appearing on any show they please( barring NXT) and the fact that there are two sets of unified titles, the Draft seems to have lost its significance. They didn’t have a draft in 2022.
So ever since Triple H made the announcement about the Drafts this year, people have been excited. The fact he added to it by saying it was going to change the game adds all the more interest to it.
If internal rumors are to be believed, most superstars have no idea who is going to be drafted where. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. It would seem like the logical way to generate natural reactions. The company generally keeps its draft details under wraps.
With Triple H at the helm of things in creative. It would be really interesting to see how the drafts pan out. The drafts start with SmackDown next week. With a lot of rumors floating as to who is going where and talks of names being missed, the fact they’re keeping the details tight just adds to the anticipation.
How is this year’s Draft shaping up?
As has been said, the Draft brings a great deal of excitement and anticipation. It will be exciting to see what unfolds. WWE Universe could see tag teams and factions split up. The mid-card titles move to the other brands. Fans could also see some talent from NXT get called up, like former champion Bron Breaker.
Maybe a main roster star could go back to NXT and re-ignite their career, like maybe Chad Gable or the Viking Raiders. Fans could get to witness the long-awaited debut of Gable Steveson. The possibilities are endless.
As of now, word is that Vince McMahon has no say in the drafts. But considering how the RAW after Mania was changed on the fly by Vince, fans cannot for certain rule out the possibility of him making last-minute calls. Though this isn’t usually the time for the company to have a draft, it comes around the time of Vince’s return. There isn’t credible information to suggest that these events aren’t related.
