WWE provides update on Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes’ medical condition after scary botch on SmackDown

This week’s SmackDown was a pivotal episode heading forward to the Royal Rumble. The show was star-studded, as it featured some marquee matches. It also had an interesting match-up between Carmelo Hayes and Austin Theory. The two stars delivered a great match-up before making a botch, which led to the referee calling off the match.

Now, WWE has provided an update on the condition of both Carmelo and Theory after suffering a possible injury. WWE on X posted that after the match was called off, both Austin and Hayes were taken for a medical evaluation. Both superstars look fine at the moment. However, they suffered a face contusion.

During the match, the former NXT Champion was on top of the turnbuckle in order for Theory to give a turnbuckle Spanish Fly. However, during the landing, the former United States Champion landed on his neck, which led to a rough bump on the mat. It was a concerning fall, as both superstars looked in an ugly position. Following that, the match was called off by the referee.

As of now, both superstars are fine, as WWE announced on their social media. Only time will tell if they have suffered a major injury or not. Moreover, Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes are rising stars in the company. Suffering injury at this point might drastically affect them, with the Royal Rumble just on the horizon.

SmackDown witnessed a horrific angle where Carmelo Hayes and Austin Theory were close to getting injured. Although WWE has provided a positive update on the situation, Hayes posted his first reaction on X following SmackDown.

The former NXT Champion on X posted a GIF of The Undertaker rising from the coffin. It looks like Hayes has seemingly tried to say that although he was close to suffering a major injury, he is fine as of now. It was a major botch, and it could have led to a career-threatening injury.

Hayes is one of the rising stars in WWE whose stock is high right now. Recently, he competed in the United States contender tournament, where he suffered a loss after an outstanding performance. It looks like his main roster call-up is on the horizon. With him being alright after the botch, it looks like the company has huge plans in store for him in the future.
