Triple H and Brian Cage

As Triple H took the reigns of creativity in WWE there has been a significant change in the programming. The on-screen product has massively improved since August and there has been a spree of returning talent in WWE. As the game expands his horizon it seems he has his eyes set on ROH star, Brian Cage.

It was reported in January that Brian Cage’s AEW contract is coming to an end soon. In a recent update, Fightful Select has reported that the former FTW Champion’s contract will expire imminently. However, Cage has agreed to work for ROH till the end of the month, including its big PPV on March 31st, Supercard of Honor.

Fightful also notes that WWE has maintained its interest in the current ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion. It is no secret that Brian Cage wasn’t utilized to his full potential in AEW, only winning the FTW championship in the promotion. Hence, The Machine will be exploring his options as a free agent in April before agreeing to any deals.

Apart from WWE, the 39-year-old wrestler has reportedly received an extension from AEW that is similar to his current deal in the promotion. Earlier, Tony Khan even tried to extend Brian Cage’s contract with an added injury time. However, the AEW star pushed back on it and his deal will expire as discussed previously. At the upcoming ROH Supercard of Honor, Cage will most likely defend his Six-Man Tag Titles with Toa Liona and Kaun by his side.

What other talents Triple H is looking to sign for WWE?

Kenny Omega Young bucks
The Elite as AEW Trios Champion (via AEW)

Brian Cage is not the only one whose contract is coming up this year. Staying with AEW, the contracts of Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks are also set to expire this year. The Elite had received an offer from WWE in 2018 but declined it and soon founded AEW instead. After Cody Rhodes, if The Elite also jumps ship to the rival promotion, it will be a huge blow to All Elite Wrestling.

Other big names that are soon going to be free agents are Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, collectively known as FTR. Dax has been very public that his AEW contract is set to expire by the end of April. Hence, Triple H will be eager to sign one of his favorite tag teams back to WWE.

There are also rumors that Jay White might also make his debut in WWE. The Switchblade recently lost a “loser leaves NJPW” match at the Battle in the Valley PPV. If the former IWGP Heavyweight champion indeed signs with WWE, Triple H would most likely wait till the night after WrestleMania to have a huge impact on his debut.
