Cody Rhodes made his remarkable return last year at WrestleMania 38 and has been fan favorite among the audience since then. He went on a hiatus in between due to his pectoral muscle injury. However, he came back and won the Royal Rumble 2023. Many believed that he was the one to dethrone Roman Reigns for his Undisputed Universal Title but came short of that achievement.

But ever since then, The American Nightmare has been more popular amongst the audience. During a recent interview on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray shared his thoughts on how Cody Rhodes has progressed since his WrestleMania loss. He believes his increase in traction and audience reactions are building him.

Bully Ray states, “Slow and steady wins the race. Cody’s getting it done right now. This is the slow progression of Cody Rhodes.”  He tweeted about Cody’s segment on Monday Night Raw. The WWE veteran mentioned the reaction he receives during his entrance. When his music plays and he stands in the ring, the fans chant his name.

Raw believes that the chants and support have simply increased after his loss at WrestleMania. He said Rhodes’ feud with Brock Lesnar is set up to build him up for the Undisputed Gold that he desires. The American Nightmare will face The Beast Incarnate in a rematch next week at Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

A year from now, if the audience were told that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens would be the ones to defeat The Usos for their titles, then nobody would’ve believed it. But that happened over the course of an impeccable storyline and Zayn managed to dethrone Jimmy and Jey. The same is to be reciprocated for Roman Reigns.

On a recent podcast on “My Love Letter to Wrestling,” Zayn believes Cody Rhodes will end his story by dethroning the Tribal Chief through the means of a high-profile storyline. The American Nightmare will get his payoff in the end and the company won’t screw him out of such a big opportunity.

Sami continued, “I’m a fan, I’m invested, and I trust they’ll pay this off properly at the right time and let’s see where it goes!” The former Intercontinental Champion strongly trusts that the upcoming months will unfold something. He believes it will get to a point where it will all be fulfilled to a perfect end.
