Currently, Barrett is a part of the announcer’s team for NXT. But an in-ring return is not completely ruled out. Barrett has teased on multiple occasions that he might be returning to the squared ring.

Barrett had teased a possible feud with the current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. He mentioned that he could “batter” McIntyre. WWE Champion responded by calling Barrett a “grandpa” and advised him to stay behind the announcer’s table.
