WWE NXT results – 03/02/2021 (Edge appears, Cruiserweight Championship match)

The 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Edge made an appearance on the show, while the men’s and women’s NXT Dusty Cup matches continued.

Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai def. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

Catanzaro and Carter continued to tag in and out, in order to prevent Kai from building any momentum. But she managed to get back in the game with a backbreaker. Soon she and Gonzalez teamed up and dominated against Carter.

Catanzaro climbed the truss on the floor to take out both her opponents. Ultimately, Gonzalez hit a powerbomb onto Catanzaro to earn a place at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day. The duo move onto finals of the Women’s Dusty Cup.

Austin Theory def. Leon Ruff

Leon Ruff was able to counter the fallaway slam from Theory by landing on his feet. But Theory managed to gain an upper hand by utilizing his power. But he soon lost control when Ruff hit a couple of clotheslines, punches and kicks.

Both the wrestlers ran into each other, hitting Johnny Gargano during the process. Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae came out to help Gargano. But they were attacked by Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart. Inside the ring, Theory hit the ATL to pick up the win.

After the match, Theory hit another ATL. But he was attacked by Dexter Lumis, who ripped his hair.

Legado Del Fantasma def. Lucha House Party

Lucha House Party started with some brilliant high-flying offense. Raul Mendoza struggled to counter it. But things changed when Joaquin Wilde entered the ring. He took down Lince Dorado with a double spinebuster.

But LHP tried their best to get back in the match. Dorado hit a moonsault outside the ring. But LDF hit a Russian leg sweep – flying roundhouse combo to pick up the win. As the match ended, MSK came out to talk trash to their semi-finals opponents.

Pete Dunne addresses Finn Balor

Dunne informed that he isn’t waiting for a Championship match against Balor anymore. Balor appeared with his fingers taped up. The NXT Champion mentioned that Dunne was hiding behin Oney and Danny.

Balor revealed that Dunne nneed not wait long for a shot at the title. They will be facing each other at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance. Edge’s music hit. The Rated-R superstar walked down to the NXT ring for the first time.

Edge mentioned that on the main roster the focus is on the ‘E’. but NXT is the brand that focuses on the second ‘W’. NXT helped him get his passion back. Edge used that passion to win the Rumble. He sees himself in Dunne. But he felt that Balor was far above anybody else in wrestling.

Edge mentioned that he will be watching their match closely, as he has never had the NXT title.

Jessi Kamea vs. Toni Storm (No Contest)

Storm took down Kamea as soon as the match began. But she countered with a punt kick to the gut. Mercedes Martinez rushed to the ring to attack Storm. The match ended in a no contest.

NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai walked down to the ring. She hit a moonsault onto Martinez and Storm. Shirai will putting her title on the line against the duo on Vengeance Day.

Santos Escobar def. Curt Stallion (retains Cruiserweight Championship)

Escobar was not considering Stallion as a threat at all. He dominated the match, but Scarlett was shown standing covered in smoke and red lights, behind the crowd.  Escobar stared at her, and was hit by a schoolboy for a near fall.

Stallion was able to attack in the match, due to Scarlett’s presence. Escobar hit the Phantom Driver followed by an elevated double underhook gutbuster for the win. After the match, Karrio Kross appeared and destroyed Legado Del Fantasma.

Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher def. The Undisputed Era

As the match began, Ciampa got several near falls against Adam Cole. Ciampa and Thatcher completely dominated when Roderick Strong was tagged into the match. Ultimately, Ciampa hit the Willow’s Bell to pick up the win. The duo moved on to the semi-finals.
