WWE NXT results – 10/02/2021 (Semi-finals for the Dusty Cup, Cameron Grimes returned)
Gargano and Lumis

The episode of WWE NXT featured the semifinals for the Dusty Cup. The tournament concludes on Sunday at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance.

MSK def. Legado Del Fantasma (qualifies for Dusty Cup finals)

MSK

The MSK managed to get the first blood. Lee and Nash Carter pelted Wilde with a series of kicks, followed by a bronco buster. Mendoza was tagged in and he tried hard, but could not counter Carter’s defense.

Soon Legado Del Fantasma completely started dominating against Carter. But he managed to tag in his partner Lee. Carter managed to break up LGD’s finish, which allowed Lee to crack Wilde on the jaw with the superkick. The spinebuster/blockbuster finish put Wilde away. MSK, debuting in this NXT Dusty Cup, have made it to the finals.

Xia Li def. Jade

Xia Li

Boa and Tian Sha accompanied Li to the ringside. Li was blindsided by Jade after a distraction from Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro. But it wasn’t enough. A windmill kick blasted Jade, giving Xia Li another dominant win.

The Way’s segment

The Way

Johnny Gargano is on a wheelchair. His arm was broken. Austin Theory and Indi Hartwell carried Gargano to the ring before bringing in a wheelchair. Gargano spoke about his “unfortunate” injury caused by Kushida.

Gargano explained that he’s a power walker, and since he can’t swing his arm when he walks anymore, he’s unable to walk. Unfortunately, Gargano cannot defend his NXT North American Championship on Sunday.

NXT GM Regal came out and stated that Gargano was cleared by the NXT medical staff. Gargano attempted to offer a false X-Ray which Regal easily saw through. Either Austin Theory could be the surrogate for the match with Theory facing Kushida for the belt tonight, or Gargano would have to forfeit the NXT North American Title.

Kushida appeared behind The Way, attacking Theory and proving that Gargano’s arm was completely fine.

Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon def. The Way

Hartwell and Blackheart

Blackheart and  Moon were on top early, but The Way were able to team up and bring down the Tank Girl of NXT. Candice hit a jackknife pinfall for a two-count before dragging Blackheart to her corner. Indi Hartwell was next in, and crushed Moon with a back elbow.

Blackheart hit Hartwell with a DDT, and stunned LeRae with a roundhouse. Moon git her with The Eclipse, and Blackheart finished the match with the senton splash onto both members of The Way.

Kushida def. Austin Theory

Theory and Kushida

As the match began Johnny Gargano ran a quick distraction play that allowed Theory to overpower Kushida. Theory was stunned with a big right, though, and was nearly planted with a German suplex.

Kushida countered a powerbomb to the apron, locking Theory in a cross armbreaker on the side of the ring. Gargano hit him with a roundhouse, giving Kushida the win via disqualification.

The duo attacked Kushida as Lumis dragged Theory under the ring. Lumis locked Theory in Silence and Kushida got Gargani in the Hoverboard Lock.

Cameron Grimes’ segment

Grimes

Grimes drove up to the parking lot, honking from a brand new vehicle and handing out $100 bills to anyone he came across. He came to the NXT ring and said that two months ago he was laid out by Timothy Thatcher the “no good snatcher.”

Between training for his return, he invested his money into GameStop, which ended up shooting Grimes’ bank account straight “To The Moon.” Grimes has also invested in Dogecoin, and continued to pick up even more cash.

The Grizzled Young Veterans def. Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa

GYV qualified for the finals

James Drake and Zack Gibson attempted to hurl insults at their opponents, When the match started, Gibson was by himself as Drake was dumped over the barricade.

Each team had their own advantage. Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa had size and experience, but Drake and Gibson had experience as a tag team and worked as a well-oiled machine.

Thatcher and Gibson brawled on the floor, but Drake followed with a suicide dive. After blocking Willow’s Bell, The Grizzled Young Veterans hit  Ciampa and Thatcher with the Ticket to Mayhem.

The Grizzled Young Veterans will be facing MSK in the finals of NXT Men’s Dusty Cup at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance.
