WWE NXT results – 17/03/2021 (Finn Balor and Karrion Kross in a Tag Team Championship match)

NXT Champion Finn Balor
WWE officially announced that Finn Balor will be defending his NXT Championship against Karrion Kross at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. The episode kicked off with a promo segment featuring Balor and Kross.
NXT Champion Finn Balor’s segment
Balor ran down the list of Superstars he had defended his title against. He will knock Kross exactly like he had done. Kross and Scarlett walked down to the ring. The former NXT Champion claimed that he was taking care of some other issues. But now he is prepared to face Balor.
Balor said that Kross walks and talks like a Champion but he cannot be a Champion. Kross promised to choke out Balor. Before they could finish NXT Tag Team Champions interrupted them. Lorcan and Burch say that the man Balor should be facing is Pete Dunne.
Balor and Kross looked irked. Scarlett suggested a Tag Team titles match against Kross and Balor. The match took place later during the episode.
Dexter Lumis def. Austin Theory
As the match began Lumis bounced Theory’s face on the table a couple of times. Theory tossed Lumis overhead with a fallaway slam. The Tortured Artist attempted to lock in The Silence, but Theory broke it up with a series of back elbows to his head.
Lumis blocked a powerbomb and hit a clothesline. But just then ,The Tortured Artist offered his hand in friendship. They hugged, but Lumis went for The Silence. Theory broke away and almost hit the ATL. Lumis escaped and finally locked in The Silence for the win.
Adam Cole’s segment
Cole was standing in the ring, and he mentioned that he was never mad at Kyle O’Reilly. But he cost Cole the NXT Championship match. Cole wanted to end it tonight, but KOR was not cleared to fight. KOR appeared on the screen and said that he will keep pursuing Cole. The NXT Triple Crown Champion was furious.
Legado del Fantasma def. Breezango
Fandango started off against Raul Mendoza. He hung Mendoza up for a pair of boots to the head. Fandango fell to the floor after he was knocked off the top of the turnbuckle.
Wilde was rocked with a sidekick but Mendoza was able to break up the pinfall. With Fandango taken out on the floor, Legado Del Fantasma was able to attack Breeze with their finish and pick up the win.
Jordan Devlin returned
Santos Escobar grabbed the mic and demanded to know where Jordan Devlin was. His music hit, and the real NXT Cruiserweight Champion walked out. he said unlike Escobar, who came in with LGD, Devlin came alone.
Devlin also pointed at Escobar’s title and mentioned that he was holding a toy. Escobar challenged him for a match at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. Devlin hit him with the Devlin Side.
Dakota Kai def. Zoey Stark
As the match began, Stark took Kai down with a series of arm drags. Kai countered with a couple of body scissors. Stark ducked a pump kick leading to a big crash in the middle of the ring. Kai was able to hit that apron-assisted pump kick Stark countered with a nasty kick from Stark in response. Kai finally hit the Go To Kick for a win.
WWE NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai walked out. Kai thought Shirai was coming for her. But she handed a contract to Raquel Gonzalez, while helping Zoey Stark up.
Tommaso Ciampa def. Marcel Barthel
Before the match began, Ciampa attacked Imperium’s Barthel and Aichner. As the match began, Barthel did not back off. They traded punches. But Ciampa prepared to hit the Willow’s Bell, but Aichner held Barthel’s leg.
But Ciampa overcame the duo and hit the Willow’s Bell for the win. As the match ended, NXT UK Champion WALTER was standing up the ramp. The Imperium attacked Ciampa, which WALTER concluded with a powerbomb.
LA Knight def. August Grey
Knight completely demolished Grey. A slingshot shoulder block was followed by a powerslam. But Bronson Reed came in and distracted Knight. Grey capitalized on the distraction with a neckbreaker. But Knight got back control and hit a cravate knee strike followed by a headlock driver for the win.
Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch def. Finn Balor and Karrion Kross (retain NXT Tag Team Championship)
Kross started off against Lorcan. But the Champion couldn’t keep up with Kross and tagged out. Nurch was wiped out by a clothesline from Kross. The duo jointly attacked Kross, but were hit a series of suplexes.
Burch looked legitimately injured due to the suplex. He was checked by the doctor at ringside. Lorcan continued the title defense inside the ring. The NXT Champion hit a series of chops onto Lorcan followed by a stomp to the floor.
Outside the ring, Balor hit a Shotgun Dropkick, which sent Lorcan into Scarlet. Balor checked on her. Kross thought that it was on purpose, and attacked Balor. Oney connected a running uppercut for the win.
Kross came into the ring and attacked Lorcan and Balor. He choke out Balor with the Kross Jacket, as the show ended.
