Balor's next challenge might be Kross
This was a packed episode of WWE NXT. General Manager William Regal kicked off the show with the two big announcements.
William Regal makes two major announcements
Regal announced that the Wrestlemania week would host a two-day special, TakeOver: Stand and Deliver. The show will be aired on April 7th and 8th. Regal then called Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez to the ring and the entire NXT Women’s Division was out at the ringside.
William Regal crowned them as the first-ever NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions and unveiled the new belts. Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart came out and challenged the new Champions for the titles. Regal made the match official.
Io Shirai def. Toni Storm (retains WWE NXT Women’s Championship)
Shirai dominated early in the match. Storm slapped her as Shirai held her in the Octopus Lock. Storm then countered a moonsault but was then hit by a 619. She came back into the match with a superplex on the Champion.
Shirai managed to hit a moonsault to the outside before Storm hit the Storm Zero. Storm went for a flying headbutt off the top rope but was caught in the crossface allowing Shirai to win via tapout.
Pete Dunne def. Jake Atlas
Atlas gained the early momentum, but Dunne countered with knee kick as Atlas was going for a head scissors. Dunne bent Atlas’ arm backward before continuing to brutalize Atlas.
Atlas hit a German Suplex on Dunne and followed by a standing moonsault for a near fall. Dunne locked in his brutal submission move and made Atlas tap out for the win.
Dunne grabbed the mic after the match and claimed that he was the best technical wrestler in the world. He dared someone to try and prove him wrong.
Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon def. Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai (New WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions)
Shotzi and Kai kicked off the match. Blackheart got Kai in a Texas Cloverleaf. Kai broke the hold and both women kicked each other down before Gonzalez got the tag.
Kai was back in and put Shotzi in leg scissors to keep her grounded before Shotzi tagged in Ember Moon. Moon got a near fall before Kai hit a kick to the face. Gonzalez tagged back in and they hit their finisher on Moon.
Moon attempted an Eclipse on Kai but Gonzalez blocked it. But Gonzalez was knocked out of the ring and Shotzi rolled up Kai for the win. They are the second-ever WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Xia Li vs. Kayden Carter (No Contest)
Carter tried to attack Li before the match began, but Li defended herself with kicks and knee strikes. The referee tried to intervene. Li regained control and upped her aggression before staring Catanzaro down. Kacy hit Li with a crutch before Li could injure Carter. The match was called off due to DQ.
Kacy got in the ring and started to bash Li with the crutch. Boa got in the ring and stopped the attack. He looked to their leader and she gave the signal but Carter hit him with the crutch and ran off.
Legado del Fantasma def. Grizzled Young Veterans
The Grizzled Young Veterans controlled the match before Mendoza countered with a dropkick. Legado showed off some impressive team moves. Wilde was distracted as two people dressed up as astronauts appeared on the ramp. They revealed themselves to be MSK.
Wilde hit a sunset flip on Drake for the win before MSK attacked Gibson with their helmets. Breezango hit the ring to blindside Wilde and Mendoza.
Finn Balor def. Adam Cole (retains WWE NXT Championship)
Balor had control early on in the NXT Title match. Cole tried to get a headlock as the match went outside the ring. He drove Balor into the plexiglass at ringside before tossing him back in.
Balor targeted Cole’s knee with a basement dropkick. The NXT Champion kicked Cole out of the ring before arguing with the referee. Cole pulled Balor out of the ring and kicked Finn in the face.
Balor hit a suplex on the steel around the ring. Balor missed the Coupe de Grace and took a shot to the jaw. Kyle O’Reilly appeared and distracted Adam Cole as Balor regained control of the match. Balor hit the 1916 DDT on the floor before getting the Coupe de Grace in the ring for the win.
Cole tried to low blow O’Reilly but Kyle wiped him out. The duo ran backstage. Balor stood inside the ring, staring down Karrion Kross, as the show ended.
