WWE Raw results – 01/02/2021 (Orton vs Edge, NXT Superstar debuts)

On the latest episode of WWE Raw, Royal Rumble winner Edge faced his rival Randy Orton. There was also a triple threat tag match for the No.1 contender for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre’s segment

McIntyre walked out and a highlight of his match against Goldberg was shown. WWE Champion mentioned that he and Goldberg, both earned each other’s respect. He mentioned that the Road to Wrestlemania has officially begun. He was about to discuss the Men’s Royal Rumble match, when Edge’s music hit.

The 2021 Royal Rumble winner walked out. McIntyre said that Edge has been like a mentor to him. He has been around for Edge’s some of the most iconic moments in WWE. McIntyre said he was happy for Edge. Edge appreciated the compliments but he was confused.

Why was McIntyre being so polite against his probable Wrestlemania opponent. McIntyre said that was something that an opportunist would do. Edge agreed.  Sheamus walked out. Sheamus questioned Edge for doubting McIntyre. McIntyre asked whether Edge had decided who he wanted to face at Mania.

Edge said he is the Ultimate Opportunist and will make his decision soon. He walked off. McIntyre held up his Championship. He turned around and Sheamus hit him with a Brogue Kick to the jaw.

Riddle def. Bobby Lashley (United States Championship)

Riddle won the Championship match via disqualification, hence the title did not change hands. Lashley applied the Hurt Lock onto Riddle. But he did not let go even when Riddle was touching the ropes. The referee counted till 5 and called for the bell.

After the match, Lashley released Riddle, only to apply another Hurt Lock. MVP tried to explain to Lashley to stop. But Lashley applied the Lock for the third time and threw Riddle over the barricade.

Xavier Woods def. Mustafa Ali

Kofi Kingston was accompanying Woods for the match. Kingston is back to WWE but is still not cleared to compete. As the match begun, RETRIBUTION slowly closed in on Woods to distract him. But Ali was not able to capitalize on the distraction.

Woods hit a discus clothesline, but T-Bar pulled him off from the pin. Kingston jumped in and tackled T-Bar and Slapjack. Woods hit a crucifix pin for the win. Woods mentioned that the score is now 2-2.

Miz TV with special guest Bad Bunny

Miz and Morrison mentioned that the best performance at Royal Rumble was by their guest Bad Bunny. He walked out with a pink microphone. Bunny performed the song Booker T at Royal Rumble. Later, Miz and Morrison asked him to make a song about them but he turned them down.

Later in the night, Miz destroyed his music stand. Miz apologized for the same. He said that he knows that Bunny wants to be a WWE Superstar. Miz offered to train him. In return, Bunny could help them record an album. Bunny said that he wasn’t interested.

Miz got angry, as it was because of Bunny that him and Morrison were eliminated from the Royal Rumble. Bunny told them to relax. He said that he was on the show, just because his friend wanted to ben on the show. The lights went out and Damian Priest walked out. This is the Archer of Infamy’s debut on Raw. He attacked Miz.

Damian Priest def. The Miz

As the match began, Priest clapped Miz’s ears and took him down with a spinning wheel kick. He followed with a somersault senton. Miz soon came back into the match and continued to taunt Bunny throughout.

Morrison distracted the referee while Miz tried to grab his briefcase. But Bunny grabbed it. He gave it to Morrison and hit him with the microphone. Priest hit a Reckoning onto to Miz to pick up his first win on the Red Brand.

The Hurt Business def. Lucha House Party (retain Raw Tag Team Championship)

Shelton Benjamin started off against Lince Dorado. Benjamin took him down and even attacked Gran Metalik. The Lucha House Party got back into the match when Cedric Alexander was tagged back in. They went for a cover but Benjamin broke it up.

Alexander suddenly got pumped up and said he was done playing games. But Benjamin tagged himself in and hit a Pay Dirt for the win. MVP rushed inside the ring and calmed Alexander down.

Lana-Naomi def. Charlotte Flair-Asuka and Mandy Rose-Dana Brooke

Flair kicked off the match against Naomi. They pulled off some signature moves. Flair hit a handspring, which Naomi countered with a hurricanrana. Asuka and Rose are tagged in. Dropkicks take both of them down. Rose and Brooke attack Asuka.

Flair and Asuka soon started dominating in the match. Flair hit Rose with a Natural Selection, but Ric Flair walked out with Lacey Evans. Flair tagged out and left the match. Naomi came in and hit Asuka with a Rear View to pick up the win.

Lana and Naomi are now the No.1 contenders for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Jeff Hardy and Carlito def. Elias and Jaxson Ryker

This was Carlito’s first match on Raw since April 12, 2010. Carlito started off against Elias. Carlito countered all of the attacks from Elias. Hardy and Ryker were tagged in. Soon Carlito clearly overpowered Ryker. Ryker was clearly struggling in pulling off moves.

Carlito hit a baseball slide onto Ryker and Elias was hit by a Swanton Bomb. Hardy and Carlito picked up the win.

Alexa Bliss def. Nikki Cross

Cross was shouting at Bliss asking her what she wanted. She said Bliss used to be her bestfriend. Bliss smiled and adjusted her hair. She went for the Mandible Claw but Cross countered with a neckbreaker followed by a cannonball.

Bliss suddenly is in her Goddess attire. Cross was confused. The Fiend’s music hit and Bliss was back in her old gear. Bliss hit a Sister Abigail DDT for the win. As she was walking back, Orton walked right past her.

Edge def. Randy Orton

This was Edge’s first match on Raw since March 28, 2011. Edge punched down Orton. Orton successfully countered a head and arm choke. He even countered a Spear with a snap powerslam. They continued with some brutal action.

Orton set up an RKO but Edge countered with an Edge-O-Matic. Orton thumbed Edge in the eyes and hit a back suplex on the commentary table. The Viper caught the Rated-R Superstar with a draping DDT and dropped down.

Some creepy music played and Orton dropped down. Bliss was sitting on the top rope with black liquid coming out of her mouth. Edge hit a Spear to pick up the win.
