WWE Raw results – 18/01/2021 (Alexa Bliss vs Asuka, Randy Orton addresses his burns)

The show kicked off with a tribute to the life of Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.

Randy Orton addresses his burns

Orton is shown standing in shadows. He said that those who fight fire with fire usually wind up with ashes. He is shown wearing a mask, to cover his burns. Orton mentioned that three weeks ago he showed a side of himself that he did not know existed – compassion. He hates himself.

A recap of Bliss shooting a fireball towards Orton is shown. That is what he got for showing compassion. He mentioned that he is not wearing the mask to only protect himself. He is wearing the mask to protect everyone from the horror that he has gone through.

But Orton is blaming Bliss. He is blaming The Fiend. This is exactly what The Fiend wanted. Footage is shown of Orton winning the 2009 and 2017 Royal Rumble. The locker room might feel that the biggest threat is eliminated. But Orton will still be participating in the Riyal Rumble match.

Orton enjoys the pain and he will endure it till he can.

Charlotte Flair def. Peyton Royce

While Flair was making her entrance, Royce attacked from behind. Flair knocked her back and got in the ring. As the match began, Flair powered Evans into the corner. Evan fought back with stomps. Flair followed with a couple of chops.

The action continued outside the ring, as Evans tried to break momentum. She sent Flair into the ring post. Ric Flair walks out to the ring. Lacey Evans comes out too wearing Flair’s robe. Royce took advantage of the distraction and went for an unsuccessful cover.

Flair put Royce in a Figure Eight and picked up the win via submission.

Mace def. Xavier Woods

Before the match, Woods punched down Mustafa Ali. Even during the match, after attacking Mace, Woods hit Ali with a baseball slide. Slapjack and T-Bar circled around the ring. Mace hit a spin kick followed by a slam to pick up the win.

Alexa’s Playground with special guest Asuka

Bliss mentioned that it is nice to see Orton in good spirits. She calls out her special guest Raw Women’s Champion and one-half of Women’s Tag team Champions, Asuka. Asuka was about to sit on a swing but Bliss said it wasn’t her seat.

They both continue laughing awkwardly. Bliss mentioned that she will be in the Royal Rumble match. Asuka said she will be happy to face Bliss, followed by a Yowie Wowie, which makes Bliss unhappy. Asuka started dancing. Bliss get angrier.

Asuka mentioned that he is still there. But Bliss told her to not take his name. The rocking chair started to move. Asuka left in fear, Bliss happily sat on the horse.

Shayna Baszler def. Mandy Rose

Baszler dominated from the start of the match. Rose fought back as the screen went black. She hit a slow motion flapjack. Baszler twists Rose’ arm and punches her. She applied the Kirifuda Clutch to pick up the win.

After the match, Nia Jax and Baszler start arguing. Dana Brooke hit a missile dropkick to send Jax into Baszler. They demand their Tag Team title’s rematch.

AJ Styles def. Ricochet

As the match began the two wrestlers traded roll-ups. Ricochet even looked at Omos and talked trash during the match, for no reason at all. Ricochet went for a planch, but Omos caught him. He dropped Ricochet flat on his back.

Styles hit a front suplex onto to the top rope. He caught Ricochet on the rebound and connected a Styles clash to pick up the win.

The Dirt Sheet with special guest Goldberg

The Miz and Morrison were in the ring. They call it the biggest show ever. They introduced Goldberg as Gillberg. He came down doing the classic Goldberg impression. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre’s music hits. A small overweight guy came out.

McIntyre said that he will kick Goldberg back to 1998. Miz told Morrison that this was embarrassing. He said that neither of them will win as he will cash in his Money in the Bank at Royal Rumble.

The Hurt Business def. Lucha House Party and Riddle

Riddle’s foot is taped. Earlier in the episode, Lashley stomped Riddle’s foot. Metalik started off against Cedric Alexander. Alexander starts with early domination and sent Metalik into the corner. He continued his domination and went to the faces of his own teammates. They refuse to tag in.

Alexander continued to get in the faces of his own teammates. MVP is angry. Lashley was tagged in and he hit a Spear followed by a Hurt Lock to pick up the win. Lashley is angry with all the in-fighting.

Jeff Hardy def. Jaxson Ryker

Elias has accompanied Ryker to the ringside. The match continued with some classic back and forth action. Hardy hit a Twist of Fate and climbed to the top rope. But Elias knocked him off. The referee saw it and called off the match. Jeff Hardy won via disqualification.

Ryker yelled at Elias as he did not want any interference. Hardy baseball slides Elias. Ryker hits a Bossman Slam onto Hardy.

Alexa Bliss def. Asuka

Asuka began by hitting a shining wizard. Bliss smiled while holding her jaw. The commentators mentioned that this could be a Wrestlemania main event match. The lights soon go out and Bliss looks happy.

Bliss’ outfit is changed. Commentators mentioned that she did it magically. She continued to block all the kicks and punches that Asuka was throwing. Bliss went for the Mandible Claw, but Asuka fought it off. But Bliss hit a Sister Abigail to pick up the win.

Bliss stares at the camera. She was back in her old attire. The Fiend’s voice is hear as she mouths, “Let me in.”
