Shane McMahon was recently seen having a meeting with AEW co-owner Tony Khan. He has been linked with WWE’s rival company for a while now. Amidst all the chaos, a meeting between them could suggest that The Prodigal Son is considering a move to the Jacksonville-based company. As such, Dave Meltzer shed light on the situation.

The veteran journalist reported that Shane McMahon did try to get back into WWE. However, the top officials at WWE weren’t interested in him. Meltzer wondered whether he met Tony Khan to change the minds of those in charge of the Stamford-based company.

He further added that there was a lot of negativity surrounding Shane’s desire to return to WWE. Notably, the decision to bring The Prodigal Son back ahead of WrestleMania 39 was driven by a few wrestlers missing out due to injury. Meltzer revealed that his mother, Linda McMahon, also pushed hard for him to return to the Stamford-based company.

With Shane, you don't know. I mean, I know Shane McMahon has looked to get back in WWE. I know that people in charge of WWE have no interest in him. Could that change with the idea that he would be willing to AEW? Maybe, maybe not. Would he really be willing to go to AEW? I don't know where he's mind is.

The 54-year-old made his last appearance at WrestleMania 39, answering The Miz‘s challenge. However, he tore his quad muscles minutes into the match and was replaced by Snoop Dogg. Shane returned after supposedly getting fired by Vince McMahon after making significant changes in the 2022 Royal Rumble match without consulting him.

Booker T believes that Shane McMahon could work with Tony Khan

After Shane McMahon’s recent meeting with Tony Khan, many fans predicted he might be close to joining the Jacksonville-based company. Although the decision may seem unbelievable, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T isn’t surprised by it.

While speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, the Hall of Famer stated that nothing surprised him in the wrestling business anymore. He said that The Prodigal Son should take a chance if the opportunity presented itself.

Nothing surprises me in this business, it really doesn't.  If you can still be a part of something that you love and somebody's gonna pay you a whole lot of money to do it, you gonna pick the check up, no matter how much money you got in the bank. It's not something that's unbelievable.

He even mentioned the possibility that Khan might have sought Shane’s expert knowledge and insight on running the business. However, if he ends up in AEW, it would be one of the most shocking moments in the wrestling world. For now, there is no information about what his role would be if he joined AEW.
