Sami Zayn recently remarked about the creative flexibility he has in WWE and how he’s been given a lot more than he expected. Zayn has been a breakthrough on the mic in the last year or two, and his WWE image has progressed significantly. The former Intercontinental Champion has garnered a lot of praise for his performance on the mic.
The former Intercontinental Champion addressed claims that his current deal included creative autonomy, explaining why he thought staying with WWE was the best decision. Sami Zayn attended the newest edition of the Out of Character podcast as a guest to discuss his re-signing with WWE in January.
Zayn also stated that he enjoyed The ThunderDome era because it allowed him to go outside the box and try new things. He goes on to say that he believes WWE and a lot of other wrestlers squandered an opportunity to showcase the programme in a unique way. Despite the fact that the epidemic is now basically behind them, he’s pleased to have fans back and highlighted that he’s getting to do a lot more creative things.
“That’s trust, that’s earned,” Sami Zayn said. “A lot of people, and I’ve been guilty of this, their pitch is ‘yes, I win and I become champion.’ Okay, you know who else is pitching that? Everyone else. And there are times where I’ve pitched that like ‘hear me out, hear me out, here’s why, it’s not for me, it’s for…’ I did pitch stuff, I pitched leads earlier but that’s having the comfort of knowing you’re a guy they’re going to feature.”
“I’ve been on both sides, I’ve been pretty prominently featured I’d say since I came up to the main roster. It’s happened once or twice where I was just sitting on the sidelines and those were the only times where I was really unhappy here and it would only last two or three weeks. Nothing is worse than feeling unappreciated and unvalued.” Zayn added.

The feud between Knoxville and Zayn began in the build-up to the 2022 Royal Rumble. On SmackDown, Knoxville “qualified” for the contest by sending Zayn over the top rope, but Zayn then eliminated Knoxville from the Royal Rumble match. Zayn maintained the animosity by showing up to the Knoxville premiere of Jackass Forever and was expelled by security.
The conflict came to a head at the grandest stage of them all when the two came face to face for an anything goes match on night two. Now, it’s just a break for them because Zayn is vowed to get his revenge on Knoxville and the audience needs to stay tuned for the upcoming excitements!
