The upcoming Money in the Bank PLE will feature five matches on its card, including two ladder matches for the MITB briefcase. The lack of matches on a PLE card has often been a point of contention during the Triple H era. However, the new regime looks to be sticking to its guns. WWE reportedly removed two major championship matches that were originally scheduled for Saturday.
According to Viper Reports, there was allegedly much internal debate about two particular matches and whether or not they should be put on the Money in the Bank PLE. The company eventually decided not to do so. Instead, they scheduled these matches for the go-home shows of their respective brands. This was done to add further interest for both Raw and SmackDown.
One of these matches was Liv Morgan defending her Women’s World Championship against Zelina Vega. This match instead took place on the latest episode of Raw. However, this bout may still take place at a future PLE, as there is still some tension between the two stars. The second match will take place on the upcoming episode of SmackDown. A-Town-Down-Under will be defending the WWE Tag Team Championship against #DIY.
Both of these feuds had been building up for quite a while. Most fans expected to see their payoff at the PLE. However, WWE’s decision has left a significant void on the match card. None of the women’s titles will be defended at this show, and only one out of five matches on the card is a women’s match. Furthermore, neither of the Tag Team Championships has been defended at a PLE since being split at WrestleMania XL.
Bully Ray reveals his anticipated ending for the 6-Man Tag Team Match at Money in the Bank
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray gave his thoughts on the 6-man tag team match scheduled to take place at Money in the Bank. He believed that The Bloodline, which destroyed Paul Heyman, had reinvigorated them as a unit. The match should focus on the group keeping their momentum. Additionally, it should further the tension between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
The ECW legend believed that the story had started to cool off. The latest episode of SmackDown was a saving grace for it. The Samoan faction is once again the hottest thing in WWE after turning on Paul Heyman.
Bully Ray also brought up how Orton looked at Cody Rhodes when The American Nightmare talked about credible challengers for his WWE Undisputed Championship. The Viper had been one of the most anticipated opponents for the former AEW EVP before he even won the championship. Thus, the match had to carry forward this tension between the former Legacy members.
