Since Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL, he has made multiple appearances and addressed the audience. He was present on last week’s Raw as well where he reflected on recent events in his promo. As per reports, there was an interesting motive behind his promo, which has now been revealed.
On the latest episode of Raw, Cody Rhodes came out and offered a helping hand to Jey Uso, who was fighting Judgment Day’s Finn Balor. Although the relationship between them was on good terms, he declined the offer. He also shed some light on the No. 1 contender match between LA Knight and AJ Styles.
He also discussed a few things, like The Rock’s comments to make him bleed again, and he also thanked his WrestleMania XL partner Seth Rollins for the support. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, this promo was an indicator that The American Nightmare was transitioning to Smackdown. Not only that, he also promoted Jey as the new top figure of the red brand, given that Rollins was out with an injury.
The idea was basically to tell you that he’s a SmackDown guy, and this was his farewell, and to endorse Jey Uso because with Seth Rollins gone, Jey Uso is the guy now.Dave Meltzer via Wrestling Observer Radio
Rhodes took to X ahead of Raw and hinted that it might be his last appearance on the show, as the WWE Draft will be taking place soon. The Draft could change the situation for all superstars as enemies can reunite and friends can be separated. It will be interesting to see which brand The American Nightmare goes with.
Cody Rhodes’ WWE Championship receives name altercation
The new era has started under Triple H‘s regime, and Cody Rhodes has become the new face of the company. Recently, a change has been made to the championship’s moniker on WWE’s website. His championship will now be called the ‘Undisputed WWE Championship’, instead of the ‘Undisputed Universal Championship.’
At first, the Stafford-based promotion started to change the graphics on TV, but now the website has been updated too. Another interesting detail was that during his promo, he referred to himself as a SmackDown superstar, which has been updated on the website too.
He will defend his title at BackLash against the winner of the No. 1 contender match between LA Knight and AJ Styles. They will battle against each other in a WrestleMania XL rematch on next week’s episode of SmackDown. It will be interesting to see who will be The American Nightmare’s first challenger.
