WWE have lured a handful of significant names from AEW to their company in recent years. The list could go on, but Cody Rhodes might remain the biggest acquisition they’ve made till date. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean there’s no room for more. In fact, the Stamford-based promotion is interested in bringing Ricky Starks on board as well, per Fightful Select. For the unversed, he’s one of Cody’s closest friends.

Despite being with AEW since 2020, Starks has yet to break the glass ceiling in order to be their world champion. However, that may not happen at all. Why so? It appears like Tony Khan has given up on the 34-year-old. The latter’s unexplained absence from AEW television since March 30 has been aching his fans. Initially, some thought that Ricky might be injured.

However, the wrestler-in-question has himself cleared the air on that, implying he’s been fit as a fiddle all the way along. There’s no concrete update at this point explaining Daddy Stroke’s continued hiatus from the Tony Khan-led promotion. For those wondering if the former FTW Champion’s AEW contract has expired, he’s still listed on the company’s roster page.

But as mentioned above, WWE has their sights set on him. Due to the fact that Ricky’s still technically an AEW star, WWE can’t just fast-track his desired arrival. Tony recently accused his so-called rival company of contract tampering. Triple H and Co. wouldn’t want to be served with a legal notice at this point. It has happened in the past.

Nonetheless, one thing’s certain: WWE wouldn’t hesitate in welcoming Ricky Starks to the company once he’s good to go. His close ties with Rhodes could only work in his favor.

Giulia and more await their anticipated WWE debuts

There are exciting times ahead for WWE. A number of the recent signings they’ve made have yet to make their on-screen debuts for the promotion. One of the most anticipated names is former NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Giulia.

She had her last singles match in Japan on August 19. However, she’s got one last date left with Marigold, i.e., on the 25th of this month. She could then start her journey in WWE. Apart from her, Stephanie Vaquer will also soon make her way to WWE once her visa issues are fixed.

There’ve been rumors that one of these women could possibly show up at next weekend’s NXT No Mercy PLE. But that won’t end just there, as NXT’s network television debut on the CW is expected to surprise the fans in more ways, as recently teased by CM Punk.
