In Short
  • Bron Breakker underwent surgery for a hiatal hernia and will be out of action indefinitely.
  • WWE has mixed opinions on Breakker's recovery timeline, with some hopeful for a 10-week return and others predicting several months out.
  • Dave Meltzer indicated that Breakker's surgery was serious, and his recovery could take anywhere from 12 weeks to 6 months.

The fans found out prior to this week’s WWE Raw that Bron Breakker had picked up an injury. It was later confirmed by Michael Cole that ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ will be out of action indefinitely. The former Intercontinental Champion underwent surgery for a hiatal hernia last week. An update has emerged on Breakker’s WrestleMania status, with the show being just over 9 weeks away.

As per Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline, there’s a feeling within WWE that the Vision member will not be ready in time to go at WrestleMania 42. Cory Hays of BodySlam, quoting a reply to Alvarez’s reporting, said that there were rather mixed reactions in the company on that front. While some are optimistic that Breakker could make his return in 10 weeks, others think he’s going to be out for a few months.

Dave Meltzer also gave a detailed account of his understanding of the entire Bron Breakker injury situation. The veteran journalist noted that the former Wolfdogs member had been dealing with the issue of hernia for a long time. Breakker allegedly worked through it, but he had to undergo immediate surgery the moment it exacerbated.

Meltzer affirmed that the physical discomfort didn’t dictate the way he was being booked up until this point. Speaking on his recovery timeline, Meltzer said he doesn’t have one. However, he assumed it could be 12 weeks, or 6 months in the worst-case scenario. WWE played into the Adam Pearce beef with Bron Breakker to sell his injury on Raw.

Paul Heyman blamed the general manager for pushing his client so hard that he popped a hiatal hernia while working out till 5 in the morning. Pearce told Heyman that as the GM of the company’s flagship show, he knew what Breakker meant to the future of WWE and henceforth wanted him back as soon as possible.

WWE trying to lock AJ Styles down under a new deal after in-ring retirement

This year at the Royal Rumble PLE in Riyadh, AJ Styles lost a career-threatening match to Gunther. It forced the 48-year-old to bid adieu to the WWE ring once and for all. The wrestling pundits and fans, however, don’t believe that Styles is actually done as a wrestler. In fact, there’s no official confirmation on his status with WWE after having wrestled ‘The Ring General’.

But an update from PWInsider has now revealed that WWE and Styles were discussing a new deal. For the unversed, The Phenomenal One’s previous contractual extension with the company was reportedly up in February. The talks held between Styles and WWE couldn’t close out a new agreement, and as the Royal Rumble approached closer, the entire retirement match plot got laid out.

As of now, both parties are still talking regarding AJ’s future with WWE, albeit the ‘Face That Runs the Place’ hasn’t agreed to anything. The report added that if Styles’ ongoing deal with WWE lapses, he would be free to entertain offers from other companies. Speaking of which, he already has major interest from AEW. But there are no rumblings about Styles actively seeking to return to the ring in the near future.
