BREAKING: WWE Superstar made a return on Raw after 9 months with a new name Ezekiel and a new gimmick
Raw after Wrestlemania is certainly the biggest edition of Monday Night Raw, owing to many returns, debuts and also the fallout from the show of shows. Tonight happened to be the same with WWE Superstar, formerly known as Elias who made his return to WWE’s squared circle after 9 long months. It seems that WWE has repackaged him with a new gimmick and a new name: Ezekiel.
Ezekiel confronted Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens came to the ring on tonight’s post-WrestleMania 38 episode of WWE RAW to acknowledge how brilliant WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin was at WrestleMania Saturday. Austin’s victory should be deleted from the record books, according to Owens, since he wasn’t 100 per cent heading into the bout due to a chronic back issue. Owens continued to scream about how awesome he is until the music stopped and the former Elias emerged.
Although Owens recognised the man as Elias, the man presented himself as Ezekiel, Elias’ younger brother. This perplexed Owens, who insisted he was speaking with Elias, while the former Elias reiterated that he is the younger brother of The Drifter, a former WWE Superstar. However, Owens decided to not be involved physical as he head out of the ring. Ezekiel stared at Owens with a smirk on his face.
WWE was rebranding Elias since last summer
Last summer, WWE began running various vignettes for Elias’ re-branding, but the most recent vignette aired on August 23, and that was the last time we saw Elias until now. Later reports claimed that WWE had no intention for the vignettes and that they were simply filmed to kill off Elias’ musician persona. Elias had a new look in the works at one point, which was supposedly identical to the appearance we saw on RAW tonight, but it was reportedly scrapped by WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon because it looked too much like WWE Hall of Famer Randy Savage.
