Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship at No Way Out 2009
The main event of No Way Out 2009 was the Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship. John Cena was scheduled to defend his coveted title against Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Mike Knox, Kane, and Kofi Kingston. Before the match began, Edge, who lost the WWE Championship to Triple H in the prior chamber match, attacked Kingston. So, he forcibly took his spot by locking himself in the pod in his attempt to hold the gold again.
Kane looked strong heading into the match, but he was the first elimination. Knox was eliminated by Mysterio. The turning point of the match was Cena’s elimination by Edge. The Cenation Leader was weakened by getting a Codebreaker from Jericho, 619 from the Ultimate Underdog, followed by Rated-R Superstar’s spear. The match was highly unexpected, and it was shocking to witness Edge walk in as well as walk out of the PLE as Champ.
Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series 2002
At Survivor Series 2002, WWE introduced the first-ever Elimination Chamber Match to the WWE Universe. Triple H defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Kane, Chris Jericho, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, and Shawn Michaels. Hunter and RVD started the match. Dam was the talking point of the match for his stellar performance throughout his time in the match. Surprisingly, he was the first to be eliminated from the match. Booker T took him out.
Kane proved to be a formidable force of nature to be reckoned with. It took the combined efforts of HBK, The Game, and Y2J to eliminate him. Jericho swept another elimination by pinning Booker T. The Lionheart was ultimately pinned by Michaels.
As a result, the former friends-turned-foes were the two remaining ones. The King of Kings was the final elimination by Mr. WrestleMania. Shawn won the World Heavyweight Championship in the inaugural Elimination Chamber Match and etched its name as a hallmark match in wrestling history.
Elimination Chamber Match 2017 for the WWE Championship
At Royal Rumble 2017, John Cena won the WWE Championship for the 16th time, tying the record with Ric Flair. Later in the night, Randy Orton won the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match for a World Championship Match at WrestleMania 3. Fast Forward to Elimination Chamber 2017, Cena defended his title against Dean Ambrose, The Miz, Baron Corbin, AJ Styles, and Bray Wyatt. Styles and The Champ started the match as the first two contestants.
Corbin was eliminated by Ambrose, who was eliminated by Miz. The A-Lister was eliminated by the defending champion. The shocking moment happened when The Cenation Leader was eliminated by the combined strengths of The Phenomenal One and The Eater of Worlds.
Just when AJ was looking to regain his championship, The New Face of Fear dashed his dreams with Sister Abigail. Bray Wyatt won the WWE Title for the first time in his career in the most convincing fashion.
Elimination Chamber Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at New Year’s Revolution 2005
Shawn Michaels became the Special Guest Referee in the Elimination Chamber Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Title. The chamber match was star-studded, with the likes of Triple H, Edge, Chris Jericho, Batista, and Randy Orton being involved. Jericho and Benoit started the match, but both got eliminated by Batista. Jericho eliminated Edge before his elimination. The 6-man match quickly became a triple threat match between the Evolution members.
Batista swept the most number of eliminations but got eliminated by Orton. The Legend Killer used a low blow and an RKO to eliminate The Animal. Their stablemate, Ric Flair, distracted Shawn Michaels, which allowed Batista to hit The Viper with a clothesline.
The Cerebral Assassin took advantage of the moment, eliminated Orton with the pedigree, and won the World Title. Ultimately, this Elimination Chamber since The Showstopper was the referee, made it much more iconic, adding more to the fun.
Elimination Chamber Match 2023 for the WWE United States Championship
The Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns was involved in a major feud with Sami Zayn at the big PLE. Therefore, WWE decided to have the United States Championship defended inside the terrifying structure. Austin Theory defended his US Title against Bronson Reed, Damian Priest, Johnny Gargano, Montez Ford, and Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Because of the perfect blend of size, strength, and agility, WWE produced one of the finest chamber matches.
