Trick Williams did the unthinkable and defeated Ilja Dragunov to become the new NXT Champion. Dragunov had put in a stipulation that if Williams lost the match, he would have to leave the NXT. However, with the audience’s support behind him, he finally slayed The Mad Dragon in the Vengence Day rematch.

In the main event of NXT Spring Breaking Week One, the two stars collided again for the NXT Championship. The match started at a high pace, as Trick Williams dished out his dangerous moves against the champion. He even surprised Ilja Dragunov by hitting his moves, like Torpedo Moscow and H-Bomb. 

The Mad Dragon didn’t back down that easily, however, as he prepared for the big move by setting up the announcement table. However, it completely backfired on him, as Williams crashed him through the table with The Book End, honoring WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. Dragunov, unleashed the beast inside him by hitting another H-Bomb, followed by two top-rope H-Bombs.

Just when everyone thought it was over, Williams kicked out and picked up the victory with a Trick Shot. As for Ilja now, fans are expecting him to be promoted to the main roster, where there are some old rivals like Gunther waiting for him.

The WWE Universe couldn’t contain their excitement when Trick Williams became the NXT Champion. While some fans were happy with his victory, others didn’t want Dragunov’s reign to be over this soon. They expressed their honest opinion after the match on social media.

One fan noticed that fans shook the whole arena while celebrating Trick’s win and said it was long overdue. Another fan was happy that The Mad Dragon would get called up on the main roster and showcase his potential there. Here are some of the top reactions from fans:

One user wasn’t that happy with the win for the 29-year-old star, as he just called him a decent wrestler at best. Some fans compared his victory to Cody Rhodes‘ historic win against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL, as he won the title for his mother. Other fans were impressed by the fact that he shared a deep connection with them. Overall, fans were happy that he won and called it one of the best matches in recent times.
