Bron Breakker failed to win his first major title on the main roster. Sami Zayn beat him to retain the Intercontinental Championship in a singles match at the Money in the Bank PLE. The Canadian crowd was fully behind the champion, and ultimately it worked in his favor as he defeated perhaps his toughest challenge yet.
Speaking about the match, it started at a great pace, with both stars hitting their devastating moves effectively. Soon Bron Breakker started to manhandle Sami Zayn with multiple suplexes. With the crowd’s help, the former Bloodline member soon fought back with an impressive Springboard Moonsault. However, all it took was the one lethal Clothesline to turn the momentum in the challenger’s favor.
Breakker continued to dissect the champion, slowing the pace of the match. He displayed a bit of arrogance by doing push-ups during the match to belittle Zayn. This cost him, as the Canadian star made a comeback with a springboard DDT. The former NXT Champion managed to get some offense in by hitting another clothesline at ringside.
Both stars executed their signature moves, including a Blue Thunder Bomb and a top-rope Frankensteiner, but neither was able to secure the victory. In the match’s final moments, Breakker failed to hit the Spear, allowing the champion to gain the advantage and pick up the win by hitting the Helluva Kick. This was Brekker’s first pinfall loss since making his debut on the main roster.
Fans expressed their disappointment over Sami Zayn retaining his title against Bron Breakker
The WWE Universe was utterly shocked when they witnessed Sami Zayn pinning Bron Breakker clean in his first PLE match on the main roster. Some fans called the champion overrated and were tired of his title run. Other fans understood the booking decision and stated that it was too early for the 26-year-old star.
One fan stated that it wasn’t the right decision made by WWE. Some fans said it was the second wrong decision of the night, referencing Drew McIntyre‘s win in the Money in the Bank match. Here are some of the top reactions from fans:
One user predicted that Ludwig Kaiser would step up and win the Intercontinental title from him at Bash in Berlin. Some fans also stated that it was the right decision for Zayn to remain champion because it was just too early for Breakker. Overall, it seems like fans are tired of his title reign and want to see a new champion crowned soon.
