WWE is all set to feature the barbaric WarGames match at the Survivor Series this year. The special match is all about the enormous two-ring steel cage structure. It features two evenly numbered teams of superstars having intertwined feuds. Only a pinfall or submission will determine the outcome of the match.

One member from each team starts the match by entering the double-caged ring structure. After every five minutes, a new wrestler enters the cage. The advantage of entering the cage first is determined through a match before the WarGames. After all the participants are in the ring, the WarGames officially begins.

WWE legend Dusty Rhodes designed the match in the 1980s. It was then turned into an annual traditional match in NWA and later on in WCW. The first match took place at NWA’s Great American Bash ’87 between Rhodes, Nikita Koloff, and the Road Warriors against the Four Horsemen.

The first WarGames match in WWE took place at NXT Takeover WarGames in 2017. The match featured the incredible faction of the Undisputed Era taking on the Authors of Pain and Sanity. Undisputed Era came out victorious in the match. In 2019, women participated in the WarGames for the first time. The match has no disqualification and is one of the most brutal matches in professional wrestling.

The brutal WarGames match has featured 10 times on a WWE match card. The first WarGames match in the company featured on NXT in 2017, while the latest match took place last year at Survivor Series. Moreover, among the 10 WarGames matches, four involved female superstars, while six featured male superstars.
