Injuries are an unfortunate part of professional wrestling that nearly all superstars have to go through at some point in their careers. This is simply part of the risk that these performers undertake when they entertain the audience. Unfortunately, it appears that Apollo Crews recently found himself on the wrong end of such a mishap.

Bryan Alvarez, speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, asserted that Crews had gotten hurt on the latest episode of SmackDown. During his match this past Friday, he fell to the ground and grabbed his shoulder and pec following a spot with Johnny Gargano on the ropes. Furthermore, he did not move his arm for the rest of the match.

Crews somehow finished the match but was rushed to the back immediately after the bout ended. As some fans pointed out, it is unlike WWE to get someone off camera and hand over their applause to another talent (Motor City Machine Guns) right after they just won a match. Thus, the situation seems to be pretty serious. However, there still seems to be no information about the exact nature of the injury or how long the 37-year-old will be out for.

WWE has unfortunately been having a lot of trouble with injuries heading into WrestleMania season. Just three days after this incident, JD McDonagh also suffered an injury on the latest episode of Raw. The 34-year-old revealed that he had punctured his lung and had a few broken ribs. Furthermore, some reports have stated that Dakota Kai may also be on the shelf due to an injury.

Apollo Crews beats Johnny Gargano on the latest episode of SmackDown

The latest episode of SmackDown featured Johnny Gargano going one-on-one against Apollo Crews. Throughout the match, the latter showed everyone why he is considered one of the most underrated wrestlers by performing incredible feats of athleticism.

During the match, Gargano threw his opponent out of the ring and distracted the referee. His tag partner, Tommaso Ciampa, attacked Crews outside the ring and threw him back inside. Seeing this, the Motor City Machine Guns walked down the SmackDown ramp to even the odds. The former US Champion was able to use this distraction to his advantage, securing a roll-up pin on Johnny Wrestling.

The 37-year-old winning a singles match in 2025, and that too by pinning a current champion, was something very unexpected. The WWE Universe has been clamoring for a push for Crews for a while now, and it seems like they are finally about to get it. Fans are hoping that all goes well and his push is not derailed by injury.
