Brooks Koepka‘s return to the PGA Tour has been one of the biggest storylines in golf in recent years. While many are thrilled with his return, World No. 47 Wyndham Clark is not. The former U.S. Open champion expressed his frustrations regarding his return.

Three weeks ago, Koepka left LIV Golf. The 5-time major champion would reportedly leave the Saudi-funded tour due to some family reasons and bring an end to his tenure with them.

Last week, reports emerged that he had reapplied for his membership to the PGA Tour. On Monday, new Tour CEO Brian Rolapp announced the establishment of the Returning Member Program, which allowed Koepka to return to the tour.

While Koepka has to face some penalties, he is allowed to return immediately. The golfer will mark his first regular PGA Tour event start at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines later this month.

This is something that Clark is unimpressed with. In an appearance on SiriusXM Radio, the American international sounded off on this development and admitted that he was frustrated.

I personally really like Brooks, and I think it’s ultimately really good for the PGA Tour. But also … it’s kind of frustrating that he’s able to get the cake and also eat it… I don’t know. I’m very torn… I don’t know really how I feel. I wish maybe there was a few more repercussions.

Clark later did admit that stars like Koepka returning to the tour helps them. Surprisingly, Clark himself was offered a deal by LIV Golf in the past.

Following his major victory in June 2023, the Saudi-backed tour did try to bring him in. In December that year, the league signed Jon Rahm and then brought in Tyrrell Hatton and Adrian Meronk.

Clark, however, declined their offer. Before the final round at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in 2024, the 32-year-old cited that he wanted to build a legacy on the tour and thus declined their offer. He then went on to win the tournament, finishing 1-stroke ahead of Ludvig Aberg to claim his 3rd PGA Tour win.

Koepka was one of the big names of the Tour who left them in 2022 to join LIV Golf. According to reports, the Saudi-backed tour acquired Koepka in a deal worth around $130 million.

The former World No.1 is now the first big name to leave LIV Golf and return to the tour. Clark is not too excited to see him back and expressed that many golfers would have joined LIV Golf if they knew that they could return like him.

If you would have told me that I could have gone for a year and a half, make a boatload of money and then be able to come back and play on the PGA Tour, I think almost everyone would have done that.

Koepka’s return does have a major catch. According to the Returning Member Program policy, only those golfers are allowed to return who have been away for at least 2 years and had won The Players Championship, Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open or the Open Championship from 2022 to 2025.

If Clark had joined LIV Golf in 2024, he would have been eligible to return due to him winning the U.S. Open in 2023. As per this program, the stars who are eligible for return are Cameron Smith (won The Players Championship and the Open Championship in 2022), Jon Rahm (won the Masters Tournament in 2023) and Bryson DeChambeau (won the U.S. Open in 2024).

The three of them have, however, committed their future to LIV Golf. During a recent captain’s press conference, the three golfers snubbed the chance of returning to the tour and expressed their desire to stay with LIV Golf.
