As the Premier League transfer window is abuzz with heightened speculations in every passing second, Liverpool FC has had a relatively reticent time while the other clubs have been busy splurging. As Jurgen Klopp bade adieu at the end of the season, they brought in Arne Slot, the Dutch football manager, to take over the reins of the team for the upcoming season.
The fans haven’t been happy about this development and at the slightest chance of venting their frustrations, have exploded. In a post on X formerly known as Twitter, ESPN UK pointed out that Liverpool is the only club from the ‘Big Six’ that are yet to make a signing in the summer.
Despite not making any signing so far, Liverpool do have a decent squad at their disposal that features big names of the sport including Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Cody Gakpo, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson. Apart from them, the blend of youth and experience makes them a formidable squad on the paper.
However, the fans, knowing the importance of the transfer window which witnessed their rivals making significant moves already, were also hoping that Liverpool will be chipping in with a handful players of their own. After finishing third in the last edition of the Premier League, they will be hoping to usher in a new dawn under the chaperonage of their new manager.
Here is what X had to say about Liverpool’s no-transfer approach for the upcoming season so far
X unhappy with this entire scenario came lashing out at Liverpool with things heating up even more since the departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of the last season. They have been skeptical about how things may move forward under the supervision of Arne Slot.
The netizens weren’t particularly happy with the fact that Liverpool didn’t invest themselves much in the transfer window as there were quite a few significant names up for grabs. With the competition getting tougher everyday in the Premier League, Liverpool will be hoping to get the job done with the existing options but reinforcements are always welcomed by the fans with the hope of a new dawn.
Liverpool will be starting their pre-season with a clash against Real Betis today followed by a clash against Arsenal on the 31st of July and Manchester United on 3rd August. In a week’s time, they will be taking on Sevilla before they hit the road running against Ipswich Town in the Premier League which will be played on 17th August.
