I don't feel relieved because I wanted to stay but was told that I couldn't. From day one, my words have caused an earthquake and I don't know why.

Xavi Hernandez wins final game as Barcelona manager

Despite ending the season trophyless, Xavi Hernandez had something to smile about in his final game as club manager. The former midfielder and Champions League winner with the club took charge of the dugout in his final game against Sevilla. In a fitting farewell, Barcelona won the game 2-1 on the night to finish on 85 points for the season.

The game spurted to life in the 15th minute when Joao Cancelo whipped in a cross at the far post. Robert Lewandowski was in pole position to guide the ball into the net and expertly did so with an acrobatic finish. It did not take the opposition more than 15 minutes to find a way back into the game when Youssef En-Nesyri slotted the ball through Marc-Andre ter Stegen‘s legs at the near post.

The match-winning strike came courtesy of one of Barcelona’s most prized debutants this season – Fermin Lopez. The 21-year-old fired his side into the lead from outside the box after catching Orjan Nyland off-guard at his near post.

As Xavi’s time comes to and end at the club, the greatest legacy he will leave behind is none other than players like Lopez. The Barcelona boss gave 15 academy graduates their debut during his term!
