While it was established that Xavi Hernandez was leaving FC Barcelona at the end of the season, a late U-turn means that he will continue in the Barca dugout next season as well! Despite enjoying great success last season, leading his side to a La Liga title, Xavi’s decision to leave the club this season came as a shock to many.

However, as per latest reports, the Spanish manager has reversed his decision and will continue as coach next season too. His existing contract has him at the club till 2025 and with his decision to stay, he will end up seeing out the deal. The club’s failure in La Liga and disappointing exit from the Champions League had many calling for Xavi to leave.

However, in a season plagued with injuries and ‘unlucky’ moments, Xavi has done well to a significant extent. His decision to continue at the club only means one thing – a Barcà side with all the more reason to do better next year.

As it stands, FC Barcelona are 11 points behind Real Madrid and unlikely to claim silverware this season.

Xavi Hernandez‘s legacy as a Barcelona player can only be matched by a select few. Despite his ‘poor’ season with the club this year, his managerial prowess and ability to bring success is very much at the top. Months after announcing his decision to leave the club, his U-turn elicited contrasting reactions on social media.

Several Barcelona fans proclaimed their joy and relief at the decision. Many are convinced that Xavi is a long-term manager for the club and that it’s only a matter of time before success comes their way.

Rival fans however, had other opinions. A fan said that Barca were in for another trophyless season after his decision to stay.

Another mocked Xavi for pulling so much ‘drama’ if he was to stay at the club to begin with. A fan laughed at how his ‘I’m leaving’ gimmick failed to motivate his players either way.

Real Madrid fans said that him staying was advantageous for the rest of the clubs in the competition. The majority felt that it is only a matter of time before things start ticking at the club and Xavi finally gets his hands on a Champions League trophy.
