The Carolina Panthers risk having yet another terrible season after their 0-2 start to the season. Two weeks in, the team has been obliterated by the Saints and the Chargers. The team’s offense has been a concern as Bryce Young continues to struggle. The Panthers decided to bench him and start veteran Andy Dalton for Week 3 of the season.
For rookie Xavier Legette, the change in quarterbacks is an opportunity. He had 35 yards receiving on 4 catches against the Saints but in Week 2, he was not targetted once.
It's a little frustrating. But, I mean, we got 15 more games. So I can't dwell on that. I just gotta see what's out there for me this upcoming game.Xavier Legette expressed his annoyance with his quarterback not throwing him the ball
As a competitor, he was unable to contribute to his team’s success and that does not sit well with him. Since the Panthers proceed with Andy Dalton in Week 3, Legette is looking forward to catching some deep passes from the veteran.
The deep ball. That's something I feel like I'm good at, and that's something that we've been working every day at practice.Xavier Legette told the reporters

Xavier Legette was the 32nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
The wide receiver cannot be blamed for the lack of opportunities he has faced so far. The dysfunction within the Panthers organization has begun to negatively impact the young players they draft. There is some optimism with Andy Dalton as the starting quarterback as he is a seasoned veteran. In contrast, Bryce Young was thrust into an unfortunate situation and has not been allowed to develop into an NFL-caliber QB.
Xavier Legette will look to be targeted more often on offense. Despite contributing to the offense in just one game, he showed promise. Legette has the speed but in his first game struggled to create separation. He will take some time to get used to the pace of the NFL and the level of defensive backs he will go up against.
He was targeted the most in Week 1, which means if the Panthers can do what they should have with Bryce Young, he can prove to be a great weapon on offense. The best way to do this would be to give him as many opportunities as possible.
