The ongoing New Day drama on Raw is certainly one of the captivating storylines in WWE. Xavier Woods has slowly descended to his darker side, disrespecting opponents and cheating to win matches. Despite Kofi Kingston‘s pleas, Woods feels that he is always in the right. On the latest episode of Raw, the 38-year-old star continued with his questionable antics when he refused to save R-Truth from an attack by The Final Testament.
Woods seemingly had enough of the accusations, taking to X to explain his side of things. The 11-time Tag Team Champion addressed taking off Rey Mysterio‘s mask a few weeks ago. Woods claimed that what happened during his match against Mysterio was “accidental.” Moreover, he blamed the legend for opting to cover his face instead of focusing on the bout. Woods took advantage of the situation to pick up the win.
The New Day member detailed his match against Jey Uso for the Intercontinental Title next. Woods said that the loss he incurred against Uso riled him up, which led to him not shaking hands with the champion. As for refusing to save R-Truth this week, the 38-year-old felt there was no need for him and Kingston to fight other people’s battles. More importantly, Woods didn’t want to risk getting hurt ahead of the tournament finals.

Xavier Woods expressed his desire to go back to the top of the mountain. The real-life Austin Creed made it clear that he wants to win the tag team titles with his best friend once again. Needless to say, this character shift has left fans on the edge of their seats. Next week on Raw, The New Day will square off against War Raiders and Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee to determine the #1 contenders for the World Tag Team Championships.
Will a former WWE Champion return after almost three years to solve The New Day drama?
Wrestling fans might be wondering, What is the endgame of this storyline? The New Day will commemorate its ten-year anniversary in late November. During this time, the ongoing drama is expected to finally culminate. But how?
Well, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston will set their sights on becoming the World Tag Team Champions. However, they might need some backup against The Judgment Day. After all, they’ll be heavily outnumbered against the faction in their fight.
This could set up the return of Big E, who’s been absent from WWE television since March 2022. The former WWE Champion suffered a career-threatening neck injury, which had sidelined him from in-ring action. Although there is no confirmation of his status, fans are expecting at least a cameo on his faction’s ten-year anniversary.
