The past two weeks have been nothing short of stressful for Chiefs’ wide receiver Xavier Worthy. He made news after he was arrested in Williamson County, Texas on the charge of assaulting a member of the household/ family by impeding their breath. Further reports revealed that his fiancee was the victim and from that point, the story took an unexpected turn.

The onus of blame was shifted from Xavier Worthy‘s head to Tia Jones after his attorneys revealed that she was the one causing problems. Jones was allegedly unfaithful to the wide receiver and when he found out about this, he asked her to vacate his property, however, that did not go well with Jones.

She wound up resorting to physical means and did not heed his repeated requests to vacate his house. Jones is alleged to have pulled his hair and assaulted him. She has allegedly stolen multiple items from his residence during the hours he was in custody. Fortunately, Worthy was released hours after he was taken into custody. He expressed his reluctance to pursue legal action against Jones despite hoping to receive the stolen goods back.

Yesterday, Xavier Worthy posted a story on his Instagram handle. It was an image of his hair while he had his palm covering his face. Worthy captioned the image with “Update: it got some motion going.” The message is strange because it could mean one of two things. First, he has changed his mind and intends to pursue legal action against his ex-fiancee.

Or second, that he is just talking about his new hairstyle. Worthy went from having dreadlocks to waves. He could just be appreciating the waves and the ‘motion’ they seem to have going. Xavier Worthy is not responding or reacting to news about his arrest. He has cooperated with the police in their investigation but is straying away from gaining media attention.

The charges against Xavier Worthy have been dropped

He was able to breathe a sigh of relief after Williamson County’s Attorney General issued a statement that he does not intend to pursue legal action against Worthy unless any new incriminating evidence comes up. Since he did not face legal discipline, the NFL’s investigation is likely to end without penalizing the wide receiver.

Tia Jones levied serious allegations against Worthy. She accused him of hitting her on multiple occasions over the past year. After he was released, she approached the court for a temporary protective order. She was granted the order but this was when Worthy was still in custody. A few hours later, the charges against him were reduced from a third-degree felony assault to dismissed/declined.

In addition to this, Worthy’s attorneys released a statement where they claimed that they were in contact with a third-party witness who could provide statements regarding Tia Jones’ disturbing behavior. They claimed to have photographs and videos to refute her allegations.

The case is unlikely to impact his professional career. Xavier Worthy had 29 receptions for 638 yards and 6 touchdowns in his rookie season. He had an impact in the playoffs as well and scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl. In the upcoming season, his role in the Chiefs’ offense will increase as Rashee Rice, the WR1 in Kansas City continues to rehab his knee and his return may take longer. The team traded away DeAndre Hopkins to the Ravens which leaves them with Marquise Brown as the only other option available at receiver. However, Brown too has struggled to stay healthy in the past which means Worthy is the best option.
